I'm a rider and I have a really weak bladder... So I had this ride for an hour straight and I started to feel the need to go after 20 mins into the ride. The destination I went to was really far so the car was always on the freeway. I was so thankful that my driver drove really quickly on the freeway and I was relieved when we reached the exit. But people who have weak bladder know you could really hold it for awhile but the urge comes more rapidly when you think you're almost there. I should have asked my driver to stop at the 7-Eleven but trust me or not the urge to go made me can't really speak up, we passed the only store on the way to my destination and we went off to the residence road. There was a speed limit so the car slowed down and I was just like screaming in my head but I'm a female I wish I have the privilege of going off so conveniently on a bottle of water... I'd take no shame and go on a bottle if I'm a male to save my driver's some unwanted trouble and myself some embarrassment! 5 mins away from my destination and my heart was twitching, I couldn't hold all of it... it leaked. I have never felt so embarrassed in my life! I told myself I had to hold it till the end even though it was an emergency and I could feel my bladder was expanding under my tummy but I could not just pee on a stranger's car! For a second I thought of just letting all out because it'd probably feel so good to finally pee but no, I hold every single ounce I could until I reached my destination. When I got to my destination, the driver very nicely told me goodnight, I was thankful that the driver didn't call me out because it was obvious because I was shaking my legs and sighing all the way. I noticed I must had wet the back seat... It was embarrassing and I felt so bad because it was very disturbing incident. I hoped I could have a hold of my driver and just call and apologize and I'm more than willing to go with her to a cleansing service or detailing service to get it off her car and fully pay for everything and take care of it. I have read a few similar stories on the forum and I acknowledge the odor it may leave and Uber doesn't take care of that so sometime driver is left in frustration. I write on here to first share my story, I'm feeling so guilty I can't not talk about it and just hide away. Second I hope drivers if you don't notice it's fine but if you notice a rider who is in an emergency and can't really speak up, please ask a question, it might really help to prevent such situation and this is not a blame, at all! I apologize for saying such thing but I wish so bad that I could have asked my driver to please make a quick stop at the only 7-Eleven on our way before it was too late :( you don't know how bad I feel I was so embarrassed I almost teared up just thinking how much trouble and disgust I have put someone through. I can't stand the fact that I make someone clean up after my mess, my fault and can't even say a proper apology or offer anything on my side. I did pay for the cleaning fee and I immediately give my driver tip on the app, if you're wondering, at least that was what I could do to somewhat make up for the incident that I caused. It was only $70 because it wasn't soaked wet but rather on the surface but still it wasn't easy-to-clean surface at all, so I'm more than willing to pay more. I want all the trouble from such incident's cost to be on me not on my driver because she was only doing her job. I have sent a message to uber asking for the driver's contact because I "spilled" something but of course they will not release it to me. So I'm really sorry, if you see this please send me a private message. I will take care of the rest if the cleaning fee isn't enough for it and at least tell you that I'm really sorry and I do feel really bad for making you do this. :( thank yall for listening

Go back in the app and add an additional custom tip. Make sure you find a way to speak up next time. Also, a dude using a water bottle with a female driver could get arrested and land on a sex offender list for the rest of their life; not exactly a better situation.

Everyone pees so it's nothing to be embarrassed about. If you need to go you need to go. If you are worried what others think then it's most likely because you don't have thick skin which isn't a good thing. You shouldn't care what others think.

Since you know this is a problem for you, you really need to build up the courage to speak up from the beginning.
This incident was definitely preventable.
Or just change the destination to a gas station. Driver has to take you to whatever destination you set. He'll most likely wait for you also.
When you gotta go, you gotta go. But dont go on someone's seat if it can be prevented.

I think you are a decent person. Every time I've requested a cleaning fee from a rider they gave me a 1 star rating, which sucks. Double whammy of mess to clean up and a low rating from the passenger. Seems like most pax think they are entitled to make a mess and resent the idea of making amends.

I sympathize with your embarrassment and desire to make things right. If you want to contact a driver you could probably say you lost an item in his car. People call me all the time after they report an item is missing in my car.

I had a lady pee in my car once. I wish she would have told me she had to go. I understand it is extremely embarrassing. She asked for a water bottle and pretended to spill it on accident and said she spilled the water bottle but barely any water was missing from the bottle and there was a huge wet spot under her, which of course with a tissue paper came up yellow. I actually did not charge her a cleaning fee, although I was entitled to one. She was nice to me during the trip and I felt bad for her, not only for her incident, but also what was going on in her personal life that she told me about, so I just cleaned it up and moved on.

I've had other ladies and sometimes dudes tell me they had to to go and I told them I would make an extra stop for them at no extra charge. I could stop at a convenience store or if in a rural area a ditch and use my car to conceal them. Most refused which makes me nervous when they keep talking about how they're not sure they're going to make it, but one lady agreed to an extra stop and I made a stop at a gas station for her... I ended the trip early before getting to her house so she was not charged more for the extra stop. I'm sure not all drivers will do an extra stop for free, but I'd rather pay for an extra stop out of pocket and save everyone the embarrassment and hassle.

I also keep a doggy pee pad in my glovebox, mainly for my dog which I sometimes bring with me, (although on the box it also says it can be used for human incontinence in bed), and a towel in the trunk. I would offer it for someone to keep under them but they'd probably be insulted, unfortunately. I think the pee pad alone should actually work pretty well to soak up pee and protect the seats, especially if someone did not let it all out (or they peed outside the car and then came in). Question: If your driver offered such a thing, would you feel insulted?

I've also had people get in my car with pissy pants before they got in. One time a drunk guy and his friends got in and one of his friends mentioned in talking to another guy how the drunk guy peed himself earlier... he realized I was listening then told me don't worry he's sitting on a sweater. To their credit I didn't notice anything on the seat but I would have felt a lot better putting my towel or pee pad under it. Again I wish they would tell me before they got in. I've got towels and pee pads I can put down which I am sure would prevent any mess on my seats. I guess people are afraid of being turned down the ride or embarrassment. My guess is that most (or at least many) drivers at least keep a towel in the car. If for nothing else than for wet pax that come out of pools/beaches/rainstorms etc.

Unfortunately most wet swimsuit/rainstorm pax also don't give opportunity to deploy towels... They always hop in super fast.

Is anyone a bit skeptical about this entire narrative??

Also, a dude using a water bottle with a female driver could get arrested and land on a sex offender list for the rest of their life; not exactly a better situation.
Although if the dude got permission from the lady driver first, I suppose it would not be an indecent exposure anymore as long as nobody witnessed it who was not a consenting adult.

The gender of the witness really doesn't matter either, although it is probably true that the male pax is more likely to get in legal trouble if he is witnessed by a female.

Seems like a great story, but many won't read it as on big block of text. Here it is again if you don't mind:

Understanding this embarrassment, many of us have accidents at some point in our lives.
You may edit your tip up to 30 days as I understand it. Consider the following, $70 would cover the amount to shampoo, deodorize and sanitize. It would not cover lost time for next rides. Nor will it cover the 1 hour dead head back to his area.

Prevention - you know you have a bladder issue. Sometimes going before is not enough.
  1. Get over embarrassment ask driver to stop somewhere, explain bathroom emergency - Bear in mind his cut is $.08/min + or -. I would rather stop then have to shut down for the night. You could also do the following:
    1. Give the driver $5 for stopping
    2. offer to buy them a pop or coffee "come on in pick out a drink, I'm buying" - an hour is a long drive
    3. Pull into a gas station, tell them I'll pay for gas while you wait for me.
  2. There are other options for drives like this (understanding some may be embarrassing, but which is more something only you know about or something that you, driver, and Uber knows about)
    1. Pads
    2. Diapers
    3. portable urinals (yes also for females)

Good advice by NoDay.

One thing I want to add that might help you feel less hesitant to speak up:

You are paying for the ride. That means you, not the driver, decides where to go. You're the boss, at least as far as it concerns your destination. If you want to stop then tell the driver and/or change the destination in the app.

(And this part is obvious but ANY driver would rather stop to give you a bathroom break than have to clean up an accident on their seat.)

You can send a tip too, and shit happens. I mean if you were a drunktard doing it, I would be pissed but its life we all have some issues that we can't control, don't beat yourself up.
In this case piss happened.
On a serious note I'm a male driver with a weak bladder so I know exactly how op feels, once I had to go pretty bad and before I could shut off the app I got a request and thought why not, it'll probably be a short ride, ended up being a long ride to the airport during rush hour in Chicago, saw a gas station on the way and explained the situation to the female passenger, she was cool and said I'm not going to stop you from using the bathroom, in the future don't be ashamed, just ask and if they say no at 7-11 just throw hell, and if they still refuse just go to the corner and do your business and walk out, especially if there is no one else there. They won't be able to identify you and if they have cameras the drivers car will come up and he's obviously innocent so he won't get in trouble either. Pee on!
