Why aren't there class action lawsuits to give money to drivers for customers and gig compaines tip baiting?

There should be multiple class action lawsuits to prevent gig companies from allowing customers to tip bait the drivers and punish gig companies with gigantic fines if they allow it in the future after losing the lawsuits.

The legal problem that I believe occurs with tip baiting is that a legally binding contract is formed for a certain amount of $$$ at the time of the accepted request.

Failure to pay the amount offered is a breach of contract.

I have not seen anyone post the exact section of an UE contract that specifically allows for such behavior to occur…

However, even if such writing was in the contract allowing for this tip baiting to occur, it does not mean such behavior would be legal if it violates any state or federal laws regarding tipping.

And I am sure that if you actually read the entire contract that you are referring to, I am sure you will find somewhere buried in the fine print that tips are subject to change up to a certain time point after the delivery and are NOT a guarantee.

Exactly. I hear these people complaining about it happening to them all the time and I wonder what are they doing to cause it. Granted it may just be that they need to work a different part of town or pick up from a different style of restaurant if they have that much trouble with it. That being said my guess is they could be taking deliveries from multiple apps at once causing them to consisting be late for delivery or they are mishandling the food. I wouldn’t even put it past them to be snacking on the food while delivering it based on the things people post on here.

Same here. About 4000 UE deliveries and been straight up tip baited twice. Had the tip slightly lowered a couple more times. A $15 loss over the course of four years. There are much bigger problems in this business than tip baiting.

Ive even read on this forum drivers say they always decline profitable orders going to low income areas because they’re sure it’s a tip bait. Ok, I deliver a lot of profitable orders to poor neighborhoods and 99.9% of the time the tips come through. Poor people can be very generous when they have some money.

I can only speak for my market but tip baiting is so rare it’s basically a myth.

I never know what to think when people complain about "tip-baiting" because it's not impossible that the customer had a legitimate reason. Obviously, there will be dishonest customers. However, there are also drivers who aren't capable of being self-critical.

I've had tips lowered. Maybe the customer was unhappy with something, maybe they were pulling a bait-and-switch. I couldn't tell you for sure most of the time. And, as others said above, it's very rare.

I actually like that UE allows customers to adjust tips. I think it makes drivers do a better job. I think it scares away a lot of the shitty ones.

Well I've been recently tip baited but it wasn't done by customer. Because I agreed to take a shop order for $92.40... The customer told me she t ripped me $5 before I was even completed the order. I began to tell her there was a $48.16 tip on order... she kinda chuckled and said I can't afford that. Then before I completed order she showed me her receipt... and she was right she couldn't have changed it because on the receipt it clearly states that the tip can't be adjusted until the drop off is complete. I have screenshots of her receipt and the order when I excepted it. The receipt towards the bottom has customer tip at on the lower bottom that clearly states $5... so who really added that tip?? Put 2 n 2 together you'll see...

I have 15K deliveries and yes I get baited a few times here and there maybe a bit more often lately than 3 years ago but it's still such a low number it's not worth to worry about... if you get baited more than that, you are doing something wrong and seeing some drivers in my area, it's highly likely...
