Nate I think your argument might be valid of they ever, ever quoted lower. I've asked countless riders what they paid and it is always much higher. This subject is not some random complaint it is a very valid topic since Uber is finding new ways to reduce our pay (or at least reduce our percentage of the fare).Uber also quotes riders a price and depending on the route we take, they could end up losing money as well. It goes both ways. If we were to get 75% of the fare that everyone on here *****es about, then you would have to take the quickest route or the route uber gives you. I actually like it the way it is because I can take a much longer route for the same amount of time and make much more money. That wouldn't be an option if we got paid 75% of fare. You guys only ***** when it's convenient for you.
Usually I agree with you however in this instance Uber is wrong. They are increasing their percentage with telling us.Uber also quotes riders a price and depending on the route we take, they could end up losing money as well. It goes both ways. Why on earth would they ever quote lower!?!?!?Nate I think your argument might be valid of they ever, ever quoted lower. I've asked countless riders what they paid and it is always much higher. If there was nothing to complain about this forum wouldn't exist, and if no one complained Nate would dearly miss complaining about people complaining.
Nate, everyone and their mother tries to explain it to you but you're too stubborn to realize that you might be wrong. It's like arguing with a wall because you are not comprehending the basis of our concerns. I'll try once more:Why on earth would they ever quote lower!?!?!?
If it was your business, would you ever quote a ride lower than what you're going to pay your worker??? NO, you wouldn't. It baffles me that you guys whine about the fact that uber is trying to make money. You act like you're owed something. Sorry, but you aren't. You are owed exactly what you get paid, which is in your agreement with uber. Why the hell would they ever charge less than they are gona pay the driver? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard
And I love how you throw in "uber is finding new ways to reduce our pay". Uhhhhh no they aren't. Weve been getting paid EXACTLY the same as when I started 8 months ago, and according to some thread from 3 years ago, we are getting paid MORE, albeit only a little more. I just don't understand why you care that uber is trying to make money. Our pay is our pay.
So if you work at Walmart, and all of a sudden they are making 10% more profit a year, do you think your pay is going to increase 10%? No, it's not. Companies make money. They find ways to make money. They need to reduce costs as much as possible and make money. What is wrong with that?
If you were the CEO of uber, you would be trying to find ways to make as much money as possible too. And you know why they need to charge customers a little more to make more money? TO FUND THE BOOSTS AND QUESTS!!! They don't make any money off the boosts and quests. They are giving out free money and all u guys do is complain about the fact that uber is trying to make more money. YOU WOULD DO THE SAME FRIGGEN THING IF YOU WERE THE HEAD OF A COMPANY. Holy crap this is like arguing with a wall
Exactly!!!I'm a company man. I accept the stipulations of my contract with my boss as to the wages I'm paid for the work I do regardless of how the company profits from my labors.
I work for myself so I have no gripes.
Doesn't the rider fare include the toll and a booking fee? Meaning that there is only a ~$5 difference that Uber pocketed (that you're probably getting back in Boost or quest on a different trip)View attachment 111302 View attachment 111303
Here are screenshots of one ride to airport. Rider upfront fare $51.71, driver fare $40.13, Uber pockets an extra $11.58.
Judge has no say in any of this due to arbitration clause. Unless you opted out but idk if you could.Sure I agree with the contract language, however a judge may see this practice as unethical and rule against Uber here. We all know how many unethical things that Uber has been caught doing and this could be introduced into the hearing.
For me, it is the 25 mile airport rides that I do most days in the morning that highlights the pricing disparity of upfront pricing. Given that it could take 45min-1hour, the upfront pricing exceeds the fare shown to drivers by $10. That is a $10 tip that Uber is not sharing with me is how I view it. Couple that with Uber setting the expectation that riders do not have to tip even though I help load/unload bags and you come to the impression that Uber cares least about their drivers. Take it a step further and consider that an Uber ride costs 60-70% of taxi fare and now how do you feel? Uber has essentially increased fares to riders but not for drivers.
The longer the ride, the bigger the fare difference. How do you ignore or shrug it off? We work in the sharing economy not the "taking economy".
If I do 5 of these airport rides a week, at $10 extra that Uber charges the rider but does not share with me, that is $50, 75% of that is $37.50 that should be shared with me. Over 4 weeks that is $150!!!!
Next time you drop-off at the airport and are waiting in the lot for a pickup, open the rider app and enter in the pickup/dropoff for your last ride. Screenshot it and compare the upfront pricing with the fare shown to you and see for yourself. It might be only $2 or $5 per ride but it all adds up over your week!
I have never said they don't charge extra, like you are claiming. I said that I know they do and I could care less. They pay me more than enough extra free money in boosts/quests/consecutive ride bonuses that it evens out. Where do u think they get the funding to give us this free money that they don't get a cut of? Or do you only think about the ways that coincide with your argument?Sure I agree with the contract language, however a judge may see this practice as unethical and rule against Uber here. This argument only holds water if 1. We are given the shorte less expensive route 2. Customers Expect us take the shorter most efficient route...Uber also quotes riders a price and depending on the route we take, they could end up losing money as well. It goes both ways.
