5.0 either brand new passenger or one with around 10 or less so rides. Everyone starts out with 5, and uber ratings get averaged after 10 or something rides. Most are all good, accept the ride. Lyft almost same

4.9 either from another less diverse city or state; or possibly another country. most likely, this passenger tips especially if he is from NYC. Overwhelming majority NYC riders are beliw 4.9

4.8 same as 4.7 below plus the bonus-you arrive, he hops in-no wait for you at all, most likely he tips, accept the call without any worry

4.7 most common, NYC rider, clean cut look, neatly dressed, will quickly greet you, and graciously makes parting comment, does not make you wait, makes no fuss, nothing but only good clean person and appears open minded. No attitude.

4.6/4.5 everything as 4.7, except that he makes you wait, or call or text you, or gives you direction or tells you where to make turns etc instead of following the app, or does not sound "open minded" when he first greets you, OR sadly, he/she is everything 4.7 or higher BUT a minority, and or drop off is a sketchy neighborhood: Drivers! please be fair, rate based on behaviour and actions, not on persons involuntary credentials. Accept the ride, it's ok

4.4 may exhibit one or more of the following: long wait, verifying your car number plate overtly, staring thru your windshield at you checking you, may appear guarded and suspicious-laden, his her greeting voice sounds as if he were pushing it hard against his soul, not so trusting person, but otherwise should be fine. May likely be giving lower rating to you if little something lacks. Accept it anyway, give a chance

4.3/4.2 borderline grey area, some problems in the past, possibly uncaring, or thuggish rough looking but may not give a lot of problems, not so refine or sophisticated, may ask for aux. to play his music, asks for A.c. or heating complaints . Watchout for females from the Bronx. Up to you to take chances

4.1 or 4.0 not sophisticated, has had prior problems, or appearing/susceptible to giving low rating to drivers, prejudicial. Risky

3.9 or below Alert! Avoid at all cost

Note: above is average rating that appears for rider, is not exact science, but gives you a good idea what is to come, so you be ready. Ratings and characteristics above will always transcend each other and may not fit at all to what is described above.

Not saying that's how you should or should not rate riders, not claiming this is how it will be It is what I have consistently found out from riders rating that you drivers have given.

Good try. For the most part spot on but I will say I have picked up 4 star riders who were perfect pax and 4.8 drivers who were more like 3 star riders. You don't know what you will get. If you just assert yourself but be cool, call and collected, reinforce any special rules you have with your car, you will get easier trips. It's the quiet, indifferent drivers who just want to go from point a to b that get bad trips. Those guys get taken advantage of and then complain about all the bad things pax do. It's partly their fault though.

As soon as I arrive at the destination, I send a text letting the pax know I am here with flashers on. I do this for two reasons: 1) Quite often the app is telling the pax I am a few minutes away when in fact I am already there; 2) half the time Uber's app screws up and the pax isn't at the location (either around the corner, on the other side of the street, or even a block over; this always baffles me).

Once the timer starts charging wait time (after 2 minutes), I give a 1 Star deduction for wait time. If it gets to 4 minutes, another 1 Star deduction. After 5 minutes and still no pax, I cancel and take the cancellation fee. Speaking of cancelling, it pisses me off that your cancellation rate is affected for a Rider No Show. It is not fair. The pax doesn't show up, you cancel and then YOU get dinged on your cancellation rate!

Most if not all have taken some sort of 3.0 or lower. UberPool / Line will add riders to you and you'll never know their rating." Added to Queue" Lyft rides you never know the rating. There are many ways to get stuck with these people.

I work with your idea mostly, except I stretch it to 7mins at slow times.

I just ignored a 45+ ping from a passenger with 4.45 rating. Thinking maybe I should have taken it since it's almost 9pm with no traffic in Manhattan but didn't want the risk of going to NJ.

Do you think passengers care about our driver ratings? I think they put less emphasis on our ratings as most of the drivers have 4.75 and above

You missed the door slammers & double door slammers & the ones that want to sit in the front when the back is empty or one pax especially the poopers.

On the flipside, as a passenger, I am often frustrated by drivers trying to pick me up or drop me off on the wrong side of the street even though I always put the address in manually and I will downrate a driver for it. Lately I've been walking to addresses on streets with one way traffic going in the direction I'm headed just to avoid this but it really irritates me that I have to do this.
First world problems

Because you're just a lazy fat ass MF. You expecting driver to break the rules, get ticket for illegal u turn and all that for $5.63 and 15 minutes of driving?

#26 ·
Nope. I just expect them to pick me up at the address I manually requested or to not accept the trip. I'm not going to cross the street in the middle of traffic and risk getting hit because they don't want to take a route that puts them on the correct side of the street in the first place. No u-turn required.

Your phone shows the direction of arrival your driver
If you don't want to walk tell your driver where to pick you up with a message or even better which direction where you are gonna go so he /she can have an idea how to approach your location .
Since Uber doesn't show the destination unless the trip starts you can not expect the drivers to develop superrnatural powers to read your thoughts

I put the exact address in where I want to be picked up from? How can I be more specific than that? And I put the address in manually. I never use the pins.

I take them all... lower the rating , better. When you get a 1$ tip from a 4.6 rated passenger, it is the greatest feeling in the world. Had a streak of 4 straight tips from 4.6 and under pax. Total tip was 4$, but it felt like it was 40$. They can't all be hotties and perfect 5.
I don't drive past 8 pm, so they are all well behaved.
