I will be avoiding DCL/Headway (Nelson) 'cos of the way they r treating my friend who also had his car stolen. It was recovered but they are taking a month to fit 4 wheel trim (readily available parts) and minor bodywork lol. They don't understand how silly it sounds when my friend tells people his car is still at the garage for 4 pieces of wheel trim. Their claims company also very unprofessional via e-mail.

The List (Google Doc) and original post has been updated to reflect some changes in 2023 now. You are welcome :)! Please feel free to let me know of any amends or new insurers. Read through the original first post in this thread in how to do this beforehand, please (i.e. New Insurers/Brokers let me on a post below. Amends: make a note/revision on the Google doc itself).

Gone with Zego for fully comp at ÂŁ1,244 - cheapest one I could find and way below DCL.
I jumped ship from DCL. I am in a dispute with them over a few things. I would not trust them as an insurer any more. They are inept. I went for Acorn/Haven, they were ÂŁ500 lower than DCL. Zego and Insur were too expensive, so I'm only left with Acorn & DCL until Uber allows more insurers or when 3 years pass so I won't have to declare my recent claims.

Did you take Zego's Sense product (That app which tracks how fast your going)?

No without Zego sense was my quote

With Zego sense it's was less than 1k per year. I didn't want to be tracked!

Have been getting renewal quotes lately, all bad. 10+ years PCO NCB, but a speeding conviction. DCL had the cheek to quote me 3k. More than Zego!

Haven/Acorn say they no longer automatically send insurance certificates to Uber, so what’s the point of Instadoc if I have to upload it myself… Not very insta. They say Uber only do a check with them after uploading certificate.

But if that’s now the case, I will ask Acorn to try and beat a taxi insurance broker from the midlands. If they’re not uploading the docs for me, I don’t need instadoc. But if Instadoc turns out to be a specific and separate policy, potential collusion but I’m not an expert.

We shouldn’t pay our insurers extra so Uber get the ability to contact servers to verify our private hire policies.

Wonder what they charge companies to onboard onto Instadoc
