Congrats. Diamond is nice and all, along with all the lame congratulatory messages they send you every time you complete a 30 ride challenge, but AS EXPECTED, there is no fiscal benefit. They will still send you a $4.00 surge and pay you $2.00 for the trip and your rider won't tip you. In the meantime, you will replace your transmission out of pocket and pay $55 per day in gas and food fees. Diamond really benefits me!:ROFLMAO:

It's all about the dollars you make. Diamond status doesn't really matter. I don't auto accept any trips and I don't drive UberX at all!
All about $$$ Uber keeps asking about what they can fix and keeps calling and wanting me to come out. You know what you can fix? PAY US A PER RIDER BONUS AT THE END OF THE YEAR! How about that? We do 3K - 5K rides in a year? BONUS $$$ Not in coupons, in DOLLARS!

I'm a new driver, started about 6 months ago. I went immediately for Diamond, which wasn't that hard truthfully, though it meant I pretty much had accepted everyone. I'm in a relatively small market (Cincinnati, OH), so I didn't stray too far from home. I got my $350 in the first 3-month period, and I achieved it again in about 2 months. Then I found this group, and now I am wondering why I really care.

The one thing it did give me was the Area Preferences filter, which is admittedly nice for me since I can choose the downtown area and uncheck all of the suburbs. Granted it's a 2-hour timer, but it's better than nothing.

If I throw acceptance rate to the wind, it seems like I can accomplish the same thing by just picking the rides I want, and letting the others fall off. Although its challenging at times when the ping comes during a ride, and I have about 5 seconds to decode the location.

Is there really any incentive (apart from the initial $350) to even care about any of these achievements?

Thanks,

Brian
Build your own business of transporting passengers to the airport and other popular destinations and cut Uber out of the whole thing.

You’ve now reached an elite status. You should be very proud. Not many men achieve these heights. You can now drive around knowing that you are part of a very special team, one that will remembered for generations as one that was willing to sacrifice all for the benefit of many. Good luck my son and Godspeed!

Idk. I've been driving almost solely for UE for 3.5 years. Always been Platinum and yesterday reached Diamond for the first time. I noticed with 10 trips to go my pings almost all stopped. I have NO hot zones, no incentives...waited almost 2 hours and drove around searching for a ping Monday. Got exactly TWO requests Ilin two hours...which is never, ever the case. I made $15.

I do this part time, mainly after work from 5pm to 9pm and weekends In Charlotte, NC
I also do Connect, Shop and Pay and Alcohol/Tobacco.

Now that I reached Diamond when I click rewards I get a red diamond that says there are "technical difficulties" and to check back
They BETTER give me my $350. I have encouraging emails all the way UNTIL I reached 1000 points...and now the app seems to acknowledge I'm Diamond l, but nothing about rewards.

I drive to get the ASU benefits for my daughter who is pursuing a degree.
I kill myself for that...
Used the COSTCO benefit...but that was only for a year. Don't really tap into any other benefits.

I have 99% acceptance and 99% satisfaction rate. Yep, I'm an overachiever...but as a 62 year old female, I guess it's hard to break old habits.
But lugging 3 cases of water up 3 flights of stairs from Walmart for $9 or $10 really isn't worth it to me...nor is the waiting an hour for them to load my order....but often, those are the onky orders sent my way because my area is surrounded by Walmarts...or Target for Shop and Pay.

But as an older female who drives primarily after work I just would not feel safe transporting people.

I can now say I made Diamond 💎 but likely will just stick to my 500 points/Platinum as that is more my usual and I don't have to kill myself.
Is it worth it? Probably not.

Not any more.

What you need to do now is concentrate on generating a profit which you can follow this tried and true system.

Figure that the costs of doing ridesharing sustainably is costing you .75 cents per odometer mile. Add a minimum pay of .25 cents an odometer mile on top of that. So you need to be generating AT LEAST $1 per odometer mile the vehicle is being driven.

Most vehicles with proper care should last about 300,000 miles, some, like my F150, 500,000 miles now and more hopefully.

Every year at .75 cents a mile covering costs, about .15-.20 cents of that goes towards replacing the vehicle, which is about $15,000 saved per year.

So by using those figures and the current mileage on the vehicle, you should be able to estimate when it's going to be time to buy a newer one, what's it's current life expectancy is and how much your going to profit (or lose) before even kicking the tires.

Problem is Uber doesn't think that way and gives unprofitable trips, however some are more profitable and some less, it's as long as you average OVER $1 per odometer mile including tips.

Think about it like this, say you got a 400 mile one way trip paying $1.60 a mile, that's. 80 cents each way because you know getting a long trip back isn't going to happen. Since your profit is only .05 cents a mile, by the time your back and ran your bugged up car through the car wash, your looking at a mere $10 for driving 10 hours or more with traffic. So a case like this it's essential to get a tip in advance as to at least pay you for your time. So an extra honney or two in cash. 😁 If you don't explain to customers the problem, you don't get. Most times it's best to decline such trips, especially if you see you won't have any play.

Another method is to try to stay in a small area and double back over your tracks, why area preferences was created. But you can use the Upfront info to do the same thing, decline those rare long ones unless you intend to head that way.

Each day set your vehicles trip meter and make it a contest to make more on the apps than on the odometer.

Save your recipets and record your miles for the tax deduction, if done correctly with an accountant, you shouldn't have to pay any federal taxes, just SSN and medicaid.

If you can, hand wash and detail yourself and do your own oil changes, saves a lot of money. Also bring your own food and bottles of water. Tea or cold coffee for caffine. Do not drink too much sugar water, bad food, candy etc.

Know your driving limit, have a set routine and get rest, lie down occasionally to give those leg muscles pumping blood back to your heart a rest.

Keep some basic cleaning supplies in the trunk and fa-rt spray close by that neutralizes smell, not cover it up. Ozinator works well.

Oh yeah, you need to gross $1750 a week or better, at the $1 per odometer mile metric, in order to sustain a living on ridesharing.
Lots of excellent information here!

My greatest disappointment at the Diamond level is that the implied higher level of support just isn't there. As a Diamond driver, you receive the same sub-mediocre support and abuse as any other driver. I am not sure what terms Uber has negotiated with ASU Online but I really doubt it represents a cash transfer from Uber to ASU Online so none of the "benefits" of being Diamond seem to be associated with Uber spending any more towards supporting that particular driver. So I would mostly agree with other comments that obtaining and maintaining Diamond status is not generally beneficial with perhaps the sole exception of the tuition reduction at ASU Online.

I've been diamond since I started in Jan this year and have maintained diamond with a %50 AR lol it really means nothing, I cherry pick my orders and make about $200 working about 4hrs a day. Their perks mean nothing to me, just making money. Haven't found a downside yet to my strategies

Just out of interest what market do you drive in? I am in Tucson, Arizona and it seems pretty unlikely I could achieve $50/hour even with aggressive ride management; even the Phoenix market, while much bigger and much more busy, it would be very difficult to achieve that level.

I'm in Salem Oregon and we have a few attached small towns within distance, not a huge area so most restaurants are in clusters between suburbs, there is a lot more areas with money than without so if you know where to park near the restaurants that serve the wealthier areas you get regular $20 orders with $30-$40 tips, especially if you drive to a small town.

$40 tips on $20 orders? Wow, that sounds unbelievable..

How big of a diamond did they give you?
The diamond level is false advertising!
