I don't know what's the big deal here.

Uber specifically says "We encourage you to end a trip anytime a rider's behavior makes you feel uncomfortable. Please also reach out to let us know what happened. " As long as you didn't collect the fees you should be fine.

I once got a call from a local bar. Pulled up a guy and a girl get in. Then I start the trip. There was no destination and I asked them where they were going. Then the girl take out a breathalyzer and both of them blow it. Then they say they will drive themselves and get out of the car and drive off on their own. I had to cancel and after couple of days I get a flag for professionalism and mistimed trip.

I don't care about anyone's attitude and won't let it get to me. I just put on the station I like drive around and relax. As long as I show up within reasonable time I have to get paid either they take the ride or be the cancellation fee.
Wow, how rude and strange of those passengers to do that to you. You give good advice, and I will take it into consideration. There will always be rude weirdos no matter what you do. I have been so pleasant and you just cannot please some people, they will complain and try to get you into trouble for no reason.

I have a question - is it true that a destination is not necessary? A few times I have had pax tell me that the system will figure out the fare, and calculate the miles, and they don't need to put the destination in the app. What about that?

Oh, and last night, someone left a condom in my candy basket in the backseat. Nice. At least it wasn't a used one!

You did the right thing, you are sharing a ride. You have final discretion to determine if you wish to share that ride, within the law.

Anytime I anything negative happens, i always send a message to support. I'd rather they hear from me first, I feel like they tend to believe the first reporter more so I like to nip it in the butt.
Yes, report first. I will if I feel even a little suspicious that the passenger will say anything.

Has anyone ever canceled a ride on a rude pax? Tonight I picked up this chick that *seriously* looked like a hooker. I wasn't late, but the ETA to her destination turned into 8 min. instead of 6, because the navigation was acting wonky. Anyway, she gets in the car and immediately has "attitude" with me. She greets me by saying "I've been standing in the rain for 8 minutes." I told her "I'm canceling this ride because I don't like your attitude. You can call another Uber." She then proceeded to tell me "you're JUST an Uber driver!" As though that makes it okay for her to talk down to me or be rude. I canceled for two reasons: 1) I figured she leave me a 1 star rating, and my rating is a solid 4.9 and holding. I didn't want her to ruin that, and 2) I don't like to be disrespected in my own car (or home for that matter!
Wow, good for you! These passengers gotta realize were not doing this for a career change, we're only doing this for a few extra bucks in the few extra hours of the day or night. We dont have to put up with anyones s h I t, worst case we lose our "jobs" at uber, and move on. I will never tolerate some punk with an attitude thinking they are above me.

Me either. Good for you. I'm sticking to this and if Uber fires me, so be it. At least my dignity will be intact.

But if it's a disabled passenger with a service dog, then by default, you must accept the ride or else you will be cited for discrimination. Am I wrong about that?

I like that ;)

That's right.
If they are disabled, or black, or female, or gay, or a vet - you MUST give them whatever they want, or you can be sued for discrimination.
If they are a white male - you can toss them out while the car is in motion.

No, you're not wrong at all - and once I had a blind couple with a service animal with Uber Assist. I knew the dog was not a pet, but a working animal. The animal was very well trained. However, the blind folks were another matter altogether. The husband asked me to stop at a sandwich place on their way home. No bother, it was on the way. I figured he'd pick up the meal and we'd be on our way. Nope. I waited in the car (with it running with the A/C on, because it was hot that day) for 20 minutes! Apparently, the sandwich they prepared wasn't to his liking, so he had them remake the meal. High maintenance much? And then I took them home, and I was polite, but I couldn't wait to drop them off. In the end, the fare amounted to like $6. Totally NOT worth my time. But, I did do my good deed of the day I suppose by helping a blind person, so in that regard....

I would've definitely given them a 1 star rating for that.

It's fortunate enough for them to get a driver willing to take their dog but it seems like they take this accommodation for granted and I think it's inexcusable for anyone to go to a drive thru twice and making you waste your time and failing to understand that they have their dog in your car...Very disrespectful imo.

For some reason, it seems like every disabled riders here have very high ratings (4.9+) and I never had any disabled riders act like that.

It's discrimination to refuse a ride to someone who is disabled or part of a protected class because of that protected characteristic. Not discrimination if you happened to have an "family emergency" and needed to cancel. Use that info for what you may.

Yeah, they were a bit annoying. Maybe because they think being blind gives them certain "privileges" if you will. Actually, the sandwich shop didn't have a drive thru. I offered to pick up his sandwich, and he said no, that he'd go inside himself and get it - he had one of those walking sticks. He was gone 20 min. (I timed it). Because they "didn't make his sandwich right" - oh brother!

I dont see how female drivers deal with female pax. The claws come out. I thibk it is the main reason y most quit.
So far, I'd say 99% of mine have been very nice. I did have one last night that I had a feeling was going to be a pita based on her low 4.7 rating. She was.

1. Input an address with a range of numbers and then wasn't even within that range for pickup.
2. Didn't pick up the phone when I called.
3. Didn't say ish when she got in my car even after I said hello.

I did have to laugh though because when we got to her destination (Spectrum) I was at a stop sign waiting for someone else at the stop sign to go. I said out loud to the car "Are you going to go or what?" PAX exited real quick. :D:D:D

I knew she was going to down rate me but I gifted her a 1* first. Rating went from 4.96 to 4.92. Sh*t happens.

"I've been standing in the rain for 8 minutes?" "Why? Don't you have enough sense to go inside until I arrive?"

I have never cancelled on a rider at start, usually most are on their best behavior.
But I am just waiting for the first attitude person to come along, I will start my sentence with "Yep, that's definitely not going to work in this car. GET OUT". I am dying to use it.

It will come... just give it time.

What are the requirements for picking up a blind pax with dog or is there any?
It's called Uber Assist, and you have to qualify for it. When you get a request for Uber Assist, it could be a blind person, someone in a wheelchair, etc. They are usually disabled in some way. With a blind person, you guide them to your car... you don't touch them, you extend your arm and they take your arm, and then they feel their way into the seat. Then the guide dog goes in the back seat on the floor. I have only picked up one blind passenger and their dog, and it went well (except for the guy wanting to stop at a deli, which took 20 minutes).
