I had an email, as I am sure many of you had about my experience with the Uber Leasing Program. I did respond to it and I felt it necessary to share my response with everyone. So if you don't want to hear allot of complaining, or as I like to call them facts, then please pass this post up. If I offend you by something on my post, please click on the little optimus prime picture and click ignore, you will never see another one of my post again.
The question posed to me was if I had any experience with the Uber Lease Program that is offered. Below is my response:
I didn't use the uber financing program. But the biggest issue with it is the fact they make you pay for miles. If you are going to own the car at the end of the lease for $1, then why would you have to pay a per mile fee on the car? It makes no sense.
The real issue is the current employee's of Uber have no skills in negotiating these 'Benefits/Perks' they call them. Anyone can walk in off the street and get a better deal than is currently being offered by any Uber Partner in the Momentum Program. Fact is 18% off of ATT, is a joke, you can get a better price from T-Mobile. the 10%-20% off that Firestone is offering, another joke. You can shop it through the internet and get a better price. The new Health Care Benefit/Perk is none other than ObamaCare and you can get it direct from the provider and not go through a middle man mark up from strider healthcare. My plan is actually a platinum plan through blue shield. It is $40 a month cheaper than the Bronze plan through Strider Health Care. All people have to do, in california, is go to coveredca.com and get a better deal than through Uber. Every program that Uber offers actually costs you more than if you just did it yourself without their assistance.
That is the reason I said, their management really is clueless. Too many youngins, and not enough veterans. They really don't have the expertise to be running a cmpany of this size. They keep throwing their contractors/partners, whatever the word of the day is, under the bus. So far everything they have offered under the momentum program, will actually cost you more if you go through Uber.
This really isn't growing pains as much as it is just straight up ignorance. I was in manufacturing for over 20 years, I know the ins and outs. They need veteran leadership. Someone to kick back and tell these VAB (value added business') to go **** themselves and come back with a real savings plan.
Can't wait, next momentum perk/benefit is will be able to redeem our points for Uber apparel. Yes, we will get to pay to advertise for Uber. That's the way Uber works, everything that benefits themselves. One day, one the drivers can actually organize, Uber will get theirs. They already have an enormous turn over rate for drivers. Why do you think they have to go to the radio to try and get drivers? Why aren't the commercials geared for customers? Because the pay is shit.
Notice the radio ads, they are targeting a demographic. Just like the Larry H. Parker commercials. The one I heard is a black man, that use to drive a bus, but is now making great money doing Uber. They are looking for the people that already living in poverty to drive people around for crap money. They are going to make the oppressed more oppressed by using up what little assets they have for their own self gain.
The fact is, Uber doesn't own the cars, the drivers do. But yet they take 20% or more off the top of what you make, on top of it, they take the first $1 of the ride for the safe rider fee. So the total you see is - $1 to begin with then 20% off of that. There is no way that this is a sustainable job. This will make the poor, poorer. They also make drivers pay a $10 a week phone fee so they can send you customers for the job. So the $1, plus the 20%, now a $10 phone fee. When will it end?
They say you can make $5000 a month. Let me break it down for you. At $5k a month, you will need to do about 35 rides a day. So that's -$35 * 30 (because I am using 30 days for the number of days in the month, So out of the $5k, Uber is going to take $1050 a month for the safe rider fee. Then $40 a month for their phone fee. Then 20% of the remaining $3910. Which leaves you with $3128. Now we need to deduct for gas. Doing this job 7 days a week, because you will need to work 60 hours to get to $5k, you will use about $15 a day in gas. so $15 *30 = $450. So now you have, $2678 left for the month. Now you have income tax, I think a good number for the income tax is 28%, stats and federal, ok if I am wrong then so be it, so 28% is $749.84, leaves you with $1928.16 left for the month. Of course there are more deductions out of this amount, but I left it to the core, so as not to confuse things. But you get the idea. Can you support even yourself with this amount of net income? Not in Los Angeles and definitely not a family.
This doesn't even cover the fact that in 6 months, you will need a new set of tires, probably around $800. Within in one year, a set of brakes, easy $600. That's why I say, the company is really mismanaged. They have taken an industry, improved it in some regards and destroyed it in other regards. Yes, they are creating jobs, allot of jobs, jobs that are not sustainable jobs. The jobs they create are jobs that people take out of desperation because they need liquid, so they are basically taking the liquid out of the value of their assets, their vehicle.
They can spin it in the news that they create jobs, but the job they have created needs to be financially analysed. What going to happen when these people can't afford their cars anymore because the job doesn't take into account the real over head, the real net, not some over inflated, misguided Gross Dollar Amount. If Uber is so great, have them work the numbers and give us an example of what the net is for the month, after the costs.
They are creating a third world country out of the United States. Nothing more than a legalized sweat shop on our own land. The land people come to, too prosper and make a better life for themselves. Everything America has stood for is being deteriorated into nothing. Their is no hope, no prosperity . . . All that Uber is doing is exploiting those Americans who have come on hard time. Most of them do to the greed of wall street. They put the citizens of the United States into debt, over extended the average American citizen and put them into a place they have to work for less than minimum wage.
President Obama wants to raise minimum wage level, he can start with Uber. Mr. President ask Uber for the weekly summary pages that Uber sends out to their drivers. See how many hours they work in a week compared to the compensation. Don't forget to analyze in the overhead. Uber will tell you, we are making $25 or more an hour, but have your analyst really look into it. You will find a case of fraudulent practices. They are using the American Citizens and taking advantage of them through FRAUD. That is what it is, it's a play on words, it is FRAUD.
Get off your ass and do something for the People, the People that elected YOU!!
Sorry to rant, got up on that soap box, just felt so natural, haha!!
