So.... The other day I did a pickup. It was for an UberX going approx. 20 miles in the shore with a 2.1x. The PAX approaches me and says can we put more people in the car? I advised him yes, but we would need to upgrade to XL. He agreed.

Now, I've done this multiple times before, after the ride file a claim for additional riders and get the upgraded rate. Never had a problem...

I did all the work on the phone and received a response from Uber.

" We've reviewed your trip and discovered that the upgraded fare would be lower than the original fare you were provided. Given this information, we haven't made any adjustment to ensure you were paid the higher of the two fares".

Can someone explain this to me? Do they take off a boost when they adjust fares or something?

As of May 22nd, Ronit and the gang have an arsenal of random excuses not to give you this adjustment. None bears any resemblance to reality. That was one of Travis's last orders. Keep pressing them and eventually you will get your adjustment. It may take about 8 emails and two threads.

On a related note, the same group has been hired to write Chris Christie speeches. He didn't get any sun over the weekend.... Because he was wearing a hat.

Take the time and do the itemized math for the for each line item and grabd total using their own reported distance, time, surge/boost. That way they won't have an excuse. I do that every time I request a review from the initial email and 90% they reply rigth away with the adjustment remaining 10% goes to 2nd, 3rd email tops.

Attention attention, atencion atencion, achtung achtung.

If you are an XL and someone requests an X , you must now ask them to cancel the ride and re request an XL.
In most cases you will not get the upgrade and if they do decide to adjust the fare it will be incorrect.

This is very inconvenient and most of the time does not work out well but unless you are willing to drive more than 4 at the regular uberX rate it is what you will have to do.

Got the same canned response I also scolded the passengers ....The gentlemen who ordered said X is up to 5 people. I Literally pulled over and showed him uber X is 4. He stood shut the rest of the way I don't care about rating hit.

The most common response I get when I pull up to five or six people after receiving an X request is "I tried to order an XL , it said they were none available"

Yeah, sure you did. And yet here I am in my XL vehicle.

Working the shore, I very rarely take X trips in an XL vehicle. Only if it is very slow.

A few weeks back, I had a girl at Parker House order XL and cancel. Got my $3.60 cancel fee. A minute later I get an X ping. It's a different requester, but same destination as cancelled trip and there are 5 of them in the party, including the girl who cancelled prior XL trip. "Can you pleeeeaaase take us". Cute girls, so I agree. If it were dudes, I would have turned into our folk hero, Mr. "GET OUT OF MY CAR!"

They are going to a $5 million dollar beachfront house in Lavalette, but decided to stiff me for $9. Really.....? The nerve...I'm sure they didn't pay for a single drink inside Parker House either.

Took me 8 back and-forths with Ronit and his copy-paste excuses to get the adjustment. I love how their copy-paste responses are obvious lies, and selected as if chosen by spinning a wheel without even reading your email.

When the adjustment finally was made, it came out of Uber's cut, they didn't adjust the passenger payment like in the past. It didn't used to be this way. Seems to be a last-minute Travis order before he left. New management needs to un-do this change...sooner or later word will get out that paxs can simply play cancel roulette to get an XL vehicle for X price with no consequences.

It's become a common practice for passengers to cancel X rides because they didn't get a "big" car. Either that or they still try to overload. Two days ago, I had a pick up at a popular hot spot. As usual, I go across the street and tell them to come over. As we are talking, I see a group of SIX people looking around. I immediately hang up with he phone and cancel.

Which is why the X-to-XL adjustment system we had prior to May 22 worked so well. No arguments, just upcharge them when it's all over. With a dashcam, there is irrefutable proof.

When something is working, Uber can never just leave well enough alone.

They Owe me 7.91

Here is the Link to Passengers playing dumb I should of cancelled and made them request XL on the spot

I would have said no get out of my car.

On General principle I would not take them. Same thing if people want to make stops on an Uber pool or Lyft line or change the destination. The answer is no I will not break the rules.

I can't tell you how many times this weekend I've heard " but you have a minivan and can fit us all" and I would say " no" I'm not taking you.

Just call the customer support line and they change it every time to XL fare with the boost or surge added...has never failed me yet and I do a lot of adjustments being a shore driver.....I love announcing THIS IS NOW AN XL RIDE! To waiting passengers @ 4 am in front of Steaks...I've heard every excuse and sob story in the book...IDGAF...I bought this XL Vehicle for the extra earnings potential.....if they don't like it...please GTFO...

Bad advice.

Customer support has become a terrible problem and it is no longer easy to get an X upgraded to XL.

Everyone I know is having trouble with this.

I would have ended the ride before it began. And Mr Smartass in the backseat "I swear sir, it says x is for 5 pox"..
Last night in Asbury, I get a pool ping (I know, I know) and pull up to the Empress get the pox on the phone, ascertain where he is and direct him to my legally parked car. I see him walking with 3 others, doors are locked, crack open the passenger side window and ask him his name. He confirms it is who I am assigned to, so I tell him you are limited to 2 people. He wants to argue, and then says "I will pay you cash for the other 2" In my perfect Bronx street language I instructed him what he could do with his $$ and where he could place the other 2 pox, and drove away honking the horn merrily. Entitled barstids.

Actually Smartass was in the Front seat And pulled over right away showing him X is for 4
It took me 10 mins to get to them and thought it would be a easy upgrade for support which gave me a canned response it would be lower then original fare (WHAT!!!!) so now I'm going back and forth with this nonsense

That's 5 INCLUDING DRIVER.

Morons.
Actually it was a party of 5 pax +Driver 6 total in the car..... Max capacity 7 including Driver

Pardon me, I did not realize you were a NYC driver. I feel so sorry for you having to drive all the way to the shore to steal our work. Don't bother to reply, you just made it to my ignore filter.
