I can't remember if it was here, or some other venue, but I remember reading about ants faking that they've found a lost item and claiming that they have returned a pax's lost item. I know for sure that I've seen posts in here about ants faking pax getting sick in their car so that they could claim a cleanup fee. As always seems to be the case, all it takes is one or two POS people to ruin it for everyone else. Near the end of my driving, I just said **** it, someone leaves something in my vehicle, I drop that item off at the nearest police department, or at the front desk, if it's a hotel that I did a drop off. If Uber/Lyft doesn't care about my time and effort, then I'm not going to give them much of my time and effort.

Policy in NSW Australia and on Uber App for recent list item return stated $20 AUD. There is a disconnect from policy and procedure. This can be proven. But who is going to go to court over $20?

A $20 fee may be charged to you once your lost item is returned. Driver-partners are independent contractors and this is to compensate them for their time. The entire fee is passed on to the driver-partner.

If you leave an item in a driver-partner's car, we'll help you contact your driver-partner to get it back. To do this, open the Uber app:

1. Tap the menu icon, then "Help"
2. Tap "Trips and Fare Review" and select the trip you took
3. Tap "I lost an item," then "Contact my driver about a lost item"
4. Enter your phone number and tap "SUBMIT"

If your driver picks up and confirms that your item has been found, be considerate of your driver's schedule and find a time that is convenient for both of you. Once the item is returned, you may be sent a receipt for the $20 fee.

Neither Uber nor driver-partners are responsible for the items left in a vehicle after a trip ends. We're here to help, but we cannot guarantee that a driver-partner has your item or can immediately deliver it to you.
I figured in Australia, you'd just attach the lost item to your boomerang, throw it in the pax's direction, and then wait for your boomerang to come back. :p I know that movie is a national embarrassment based on a few Aussies I know. heh
