Maybe for the same reason you are.

People read this forum. Word gets out. I'm sure uber reads it. Passengers read it. Journalists read it. Information is out there. It may not change much, but it may change something.

At the very least, I think it's very informative for other drivers like myself who don't have prior driving experience.
Yes... it's true, you have a point there, maybe they read this shit and try to improve the system.

Again:
Who is there to confirm that an alleged theft occurred...?
What would prevent angry and bitter drivers from filing false claims in order to round up some cash because they did not make enough money that day..?
It's called fraud. The law is the only thing that would prevent that.

Who's there to confirm the driver didn't vomit in his own car and blame it on the passenger?

heheheh.... that's why we should all have a GoPro mounted on the dashboard facing backwards :D
I have two camera's in my car... one facing out the rear window and one facing the front. The front camera is positioned where it can be turned to face into the vehicle if needed. Well worth the money, I bought it through a place in Texas, The Dashcam Store www.dashcamstore.com They are having sales at the moment, best $300 ever spent. The entertainment value is a plus as well.

Hummm... I'd like to know the legality of this though, as far as I know the law says:

You need to get someone's written permission to videotape them if they are in a place where a certain degree of privacy is expected for example some of these places would be inside a church, in a hospital, in the backyard of your house (if fenced), when it comes to a car I really dunno.

But the most important issue here is:

Is pax gonna get annoyed and leave a negative score...?
Is U going to allow you to do that or would they be afraid to get sued if some shit hits the fan...?

As for theft.....you should check your vehicle after every customer.
I had a personal item taken from my vehicle without my permission by a silly bunt tourist. She was a little drunk, when she and her cohorts left my vehicle I do what I do every time, I check my vehicle, sort of habit from my past job. A certain item was gone... I stopped my car, parked it and told the valet I'd be right back, walked into the club and even though it toke a couple of minutes I found the drunk silly bunt and just told her to give my property back. She looked at me and said "what?", I described my property and then whispered something in her ear. My property was promptly returned.

Nope... not that easy.... your home it's also YOUR HOME but try to videotape with cameras placed in your bathrooms.

It was a Russian religious symbol and I informed her that what she did was theft.
You can put a camera in your vehicle, it is that easy. Do some research on it, at the end of 2016 every cab in Miami-Dade cnty will have them facing inside the passenger compartment.

I don't doubt that you can have a camera in your car but the issue is:

Do you need to get permission to videotape..?
I assure you that if cabs are going to start implementing dashboard cameras there will be a sign warning you about it, GUARANTEED !
and furthermore accepting the fare will imply accepting to be taped and that disclosure will show up somewhere.

There is no case law yet, but a passenger would not have an expectation of privacy in a hired vehicle with a hired driver. Anything that driver could reasonably hear or see would be reasonable to record. But be smart and don't post your videos all over the internet without a release from passengers.

Silly, the camera is pointed outside, not inside. It's for insurance purposes and we Russians like dashcams.... check YouTube....Lol

They don't need my written permission to lie about me to Uber in order to get Uber to bend over and kiss their ass at my expense. As long as they don't lie to Uber, then no, my phone's camera is not video taping you as a customer. Don't believe me? Then get a search warrant. My phone is my private possession.
