Is there a list of stations that partnered with Uber to do the inspections for $20 in maryland? (preferably PG county)

Also do you do a full MARYLAND state inspection, or the Uber 19point list? or are they the same?

I know of a gas station not to far in DC that does inception for $20. Does it matter if i live in MARYLAND and have MARYLAND tags?

Also do they check for tint lol? I have a sedan with 20% in the back window, 35% on the sides.

Thanks in advance
Isn't there one gas station on ubers list that they said was " sponsered" located in in DC I think and that does the inspection for free ?

I am a new UBER Driver and here is what I know and have just experienced. I am registered in DC although I live in and my Vehicle (bought used on Tuesday) is titled and tagged in Maryland. OK, first off to title and get tags in Maryland you must get a detailed inspection. I paid $85 and that is pretty much the standard in Maryland give or take a few dollars. And yes, it is true, Maryland insection is one of the toughest. When it comes to Tint, it kind of depends on the inspector. I have factory tint and it was not an issue. But there is not a definitive "Will I skate by with Window Tint" answer. BTW, a tidbit I ran into. Maryland does NOT allow an inspection to be conducted if it is raining.

Next was the VA State Inspection debacle. DC does not require you to have a VA Inspection UNLESS you want to be able to PICK UP PAX in VA. The closest inspection station to me was in Tysons Corner, Schmidts Exxon. They charged $16 and in my case there was no wait and it took 20-30 minutes. The good news is as of November 2nd 2015, with a receipt, UBER is refunding the Inspection Fee for drivers NOT registered in VA ( meaning DC or MD qualify for refund)

I hope this helps with this issue.

Here is the email I received from UBER Support when I started getting conflicting stories about this matter.

Hey Ron,

Nicole stepping in here to help solve your issue. I'm so sorry about that previous email you received. It contained misinformation so please disregard that. I'll be here to assist you going forward! Thank you so much for your patience.

As a Washington D.C. partner, you do not need the Virginia Inspection unless you plan on driving in Virginia. As a DC partner, you can drive in all of Maryland, including Baltimore. This is likely why we set your partner profile as DC because it offers you more availability of other cities to possibly drive in.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Best,

Nicole at Uber

Is anyone else having trouble getting an actual physical copy of this dumb certificate? I've checked several places, and they don't give these out. Specifically, the Maryland certificates.

And is it really true that if I get a VA inspection, I can drive in Baltimore?

What do you mean "certifcate"? Most gas stations in md can give you an inspection.
If you are signed up in the DC market then yeah a VA inspection wil allow you to pick up anywhere in MD

On the website that Uber provides that instructs Baltimore drivers to get an inspection, they provide an example of a "Maryland State Police Inspection Certificate," and they make it clear that it's the only document they will accept.

And regarding the VA inspection, what if I'm registered in the Baltimore market and not DC? Will the VA inspection still suffice?

Well this thread was started a year ago, I mention this because I think you are talking a new inspection that Uber is asking for by March 2016,which a lot of folks in the DC market (this fourm) simply havent received yet. Like I for one aint getting any more inspections until i get an email telling me to do so.

However, a va inspection will still work. If you go to any major gas station, the inspection they give is the md state certified inspection. If you're in Baltimore (account) a MD or VA inspection will still work.

Anytime you get your vehicle inspected in Maryland you will receive a Yellow Copy of the Certificate. It is part of the process. ( found on internet, I wasnt dumb enough to paste my own, although not much could be done with this! ) BTW, I submitted this in the spot designated for the VA Inspection Certificate and it was accepted without issue by UBER. They do need to get their act together and change the website to reflect INSPECTION CERTIFICATE so it doesn't just say VA Inspection.

Face it, UBER is not prepared for their own policy changes and is not rushing to do so. Nothing new here. Bart is right, wait until you get something more concrete from UBER. When something comes out forcing our hands, there will be plenty of talk on the forums. (I will definitely paste what I receive and any info regarding this matter in the Montgomery County, MD city forum. Click WATCH and you will receive a alert anytime a new thread / topic is initiated in Montgomery County forum. I also started a new Facebook page for Montgomery County UBER Drivers. This will allow us to text in real time besides share info. Handy in emergencies, snow and other weather emergencies, major traffic issues etc

No, I bought this used car from them and this is the Maryland inspection certificate via email. It was transferred from a Virginia dealership so they had to do a Maryland inspection before the sale. No yellow inspection certificate anymore, that's what the sales guy said. I paid $0, it wasn't for the good of Fuber either.

a dealer did it? how much it cost?
and you signed up in the DC or greater Maryland market?
and you got the email that you need an inspection I guess?
Sorry for delay Bart, Im a slackin!!

I just happened to have bought my 07 Durango in December and had to have a MD Inspection to get registered This was from a small auto repair dealer in Rockville. I think I had mentioned to you earlier it was $85 and that is fairly the standard in this area. Has been for a few years. I think MD has a CAP to be an authorized inspection station and that is the cap, $85. I am registered in DC but as you know I am based and run mainly in Upper Montgomery County.
I have received no Email pertaining to this matter as of yet.

I think one thing that may have started confusion was that the long list the other poster put up, was showing a list for a TNC permit. I do not think that the list came from UBER. But if I find anything out I assure you I will get it up here. You and I pretty much run the same way, DC Partner, based in MD.

That long list I am not very fond of!!!

How do you know if you are signed up in the DC Market or not? I went to a DC area car inspection place in Clinton and they failed me for the windows. From What I understand 20% tint is legal in VA, so If I go to VA and get a VA inspection, my car will pass and I can drive in DC and Waldorf?

20% has never been legal in VA. The darkest tint allowed in VA is 35% with a medical waiver on the front doors, otherwise, 50% is the limit on the front doors. SUV/Vans do not have a limit on anything beyond the front windows.

I have never been failed for dark tint in VA.

I bought my car last week and in MARYLAND inspection is not required for a new car purchase. So there is no inspection certificate at the dealer. You only get an inspection if you sell your car to somebody else(well they would need to get one). I went there today only literally took 10minutes. Only had like 8 items on the checklist, nothing like the form you download from uber. But its their DC uber form. I'm good to go, 20 bucks, with the tint
New car do not need inspection. Check with UBER.
