Palm Beach Police charge wrong-way Uber driver with DUI
-Palm Beach Police arrested an Uber driver who they said almost hit another car while driving the wrong way on the Royal Palm Bridge early Monday.

Ramon R. Miranda, 50, is charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence, a Palm Beach Police report said.

According to the report, an officer saw Miranda, who is a Cuban resident living in West Palm Beach, at 2:13 a.m. driving east in the westbound lane of the bridge "at a high rate of speed," almost colliding with another vehicle.

The officer pulled over Miranda in the 400 block of Royal Palm Way and noticed he was unsteady on his feet, the report stated. Miranda told the officer he was an Uber driver on his way to pick someone up and that he "did not pay attention to the roads" while coming from downtown West Palm Beach.

Miranda was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and was released on his own recognizance a few hours later. He did not return a phone message Tuesday.

A court date is set for 8:30 a.m. Dec. 29 in Palm Beach County Circuit Court.

If true, that is absolutely despicable... putting passengers, who place their trust in you to be the sober one, at risk is simply disgusting. No bones about it to me.

The big "if" to me is whether the app was actually on and he really had a fare waiting or he is just a BSer. I have had cops actually notice my lit up sticker at night and give me a thumbs up before. It has always made me think about people who might try to say they are with Uber (or whomever) to the police, gated community guards, etc to do dishonest things. It is shocking how often I do not get verified and waved on by to be honest. Enough to make me think about these things.

I think he was still celebrating Castro's death and not on his way to pick up a pax.
