Uber does not grant drivers Paid Sick Time every 30 h of active time

It was rumored that Uber is cheating drivers on their accrued sick time with no option to audit and challenge the numbers shown on the Paid Sick Leave page. My own experience seems to support this allegation.
After my last claim of my sick hours, my available time reset to zero.
Then I proceeded to drive again. I have logged in more than 30 h of active time, and consequently, I should have accrued at least 1 h of Paid Sick Time. The dashboard is still not updating. It shows zero sick time available after 35 hours of active time completed. It appears that Uber is granting drivers sick time on a much longer amount of active time accrued instead of the 30 h per the AG's agreement. A flagrant violation and cheating of the drivers . On the benefits page, Uber should provide drivers with a live progress of the accumulated active time that is counting toward the accrued Paid Sick Leave time.
Can you guys monitor your Paid Sick Time from your last claim and confirm how many more active hours you logged in before earning 1 hour of a new paid sick time, please?

I was wondering the same thing, as I thought I should’ve earned my sick time earlier than I did. It can’t be that hard to figure out all you need to know is the date that you’re accrued time started.

Then you can just count the minutes/hours from when it started (last year sometime?), and you can determine how many hours you should’ve been paid by now.

Does anyone know when the sick time started accruing? I’m looking for a specific date.

You are correct. The Attorney General's Office is encouraging drivers to file a complaint for wage theft. The AG's office representative indicated that they rely on drivers feedback to accurately assess Uber/Lyft's compliance with the agreement.
Even if we don't have the exact start date for the sick leave benefits, Uber provides a summary of claimed hours from January 1st on the sick leave page. Claimed and not yet claimed time should be the total you have accrued for each 30 hours of active time since the beginning of the year. The Uber app displays the total active hours in the weekly summary as of January. You can then add up all your active hours for the entire year; divide the total active hours by 30, and check if the result matches the total accrued sick leave provided to you by Uber.
If the numbers don't match, contact Uber to discuss the discrepancies . Your number might still be slightly off due to your total active hours not being rounded to a perfect and divisible figure of 30 . Then, file your complaint with the Attorney General's office if the discrepancy is obvious.

Are you accounting for the fact that after you hit 30 hours engaged time, their system might take an additional day to refresh and update your available time? But in that time to refresh, if you've done additional hours, it will look like more hours have been worked between cash outs?
I believe the accrued hours for sick pay is not updated in real time, I noticed for my account it always updates around Mondays. Of course I would believe Uber would hold on to our legally entitled pay for as long as possible, that's how greedy Uber is.
What they should be doing is displaying a real-time accrual of # of hours. Then allow you to claim in increments of 1 hour. Doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to program that....just using claimed and paid dates is not going to give an accurate accrual rate due to likely some lag times of updating.

Uber's system may be behind schedule, but it shouldn't come at the expense of drivers. Uber built the system, they own it, they designed it, and it's working the way they want it to work . Uber has the ability to create a system that can update in real time. They chose to have it updated a few days later. They could have created a transparent system, but they opted for opacity, which leaves drivers in the dark about critical information they need to know. If I can't cash out the money I earned because Uber wants me to wait a few days for their system to update, that's worrisome.

There's room to grow rideshare in the big markets, but not with Uber and Lyft.

Uber and Lyft have hit their ceiling in most markets. It's a mature business. The easiest way for U/L to increase profits is to pay the drivers less.
Our slice of the pie is increasingly smaller to prop up the stock value.

Pay attention to the NYC market, it often shows what's to come for the rest of us.

We started accruing sick time on November 1 2024. I have been tracking my earnings in a spreadsheet for years and in November started tracking my active minutes.

since November 1, I’ve had just over 62 hours of active time and my second hour of sick pay showed up about a week ago, so that proves, at least for me, that they’re not stealing any of my sick time. I’m guessing that they are logging and paying out sick time correctly for everyone.
