UBER cutting driver pay in NYC, charging passengers congestion pricing and not reimbursing drivers, overcharging passengers and paying itself the LION'S SHARE of YOUR earnings. PLEASE Strike!

If it rains uber prices go up, if it snows it goes up, if it's busy the price goes up, cool destination? price goes up! Dangerous conditions? price goes WAY up all the while the drivers pay stays the same never earning more then a maximum per hour ceiling the algo worked out. Uber has reduced the minimum fare payout to drivers down to $4 dollars which is the most common fare type within Manhattan and now drivers have to pay $1.50 every time they pass through. The algo will only provide 3 trips max per hour on average so if you get 3 trips passing in and out of congestion zone you're earning $7.50 per hour if they were short trips. Meanwhile on a $4 dollar trip where YOU did all the labor and YOU took all the risk UBER has paid themselves $5 dollars from the $20 they charged the passenger! We have no laws protecting our wages, no representative backing us up, we are exploited by first and foremost NYC government for the corruption of limiting Yellow Cab medallions to prevent "traffic" only to turn around and allow corporations to purchase those medallions preventing workers from ever owning the means of production without slaving away 20yrs+ of their life for corporations, Secondly exploited by the state who taxes 40% of our hard earned labor unjustly and lastly exploited by UBER who pay us 35% of what WE worked for all while providing zero benefits zero protections and zero respect. If we don't form a union and work together in solidarity they are going to grind us down to the minimum possible legal pay imaginable the way the Yellow Cab industry was doing before Biden intervened during covid where they were committing suicide left and right as greedy corporations defaulted them on their contracts and took back medallions with 700k in payments made on time over 15+ years.
We need a driver owned and operated rideshare app with shared profit. It can operate like Uber but rather then profits stay at the top those profits get divided and sent back to drivers end of year. It could have a membership fee to join as a driver to help pay for it and advertisements till it gets popular. We could work for less then what uber charges customers and take a pay cut to invest in our futures and driver the other app companies out of business. It could include yellow cabs too, we aren't 2 competing enemy factions we are ONE team of workers being manipulated by those at the top to think of each other as competition! Anyone else want to work on this together?

Who the hell are you to come to this forum and gaslight us to waste our time protesting on problems that aren’t entirely Uber’s fault?

There are only two minor problems resulting from recent changes by Uber, and they’re not big enough for us to get out of bed and hate our lives over. They are…

1. reduction of minimum fare to $4 and change
2. reduction of Jersey toll reimbursement from $20 to $16 and change (which you didn’t even mention)

None of the above were done illegally. There is no rule from the TLC that states the driver must be paid a specific minimum for each trip as long as Uber complies with the standard rate fare. There is also no rule for reimbursing drivers for any amount above the return tolls for going into Jersey. As a matter of fact, we can legally refuse all Jersey trips with the exception of EWR.

As for the congestion toll, you really don’t know what you’re talking about. Regardless of whether the passenger pays for the toll, we are fully exempt from it even if we cross into the toll zone with no passenger. So why would we care what Uber or the MTA collects from the passenger? Are you going to tell us that people are now less likely to take Uber/Lyft rides because of the extra $1.50 they will have to pay? Cry me a fúcking river.

What you are doing is you are barking up the wrong tree. It’s the TLC that you should be moaning and bítching at. Sure it seems unfair if Uber charges $100 from the passenger but only pays us $10. But as long as Uber pays us the TLC mandated rates, they do not have to pay us anything extra. Uber is a private company. If you expect them to do more than the bare minimum, then welcome to corporate America.

Go bítch and moan to the TLC while the rest of us spend our time actually making money. Asking us to raise a stink over losing $1 for every UberX minimum fare…gimme a break! We can always find ways to milk a fare and get Uber back.

I had to first carefully think about who posted this reply because I really don't think you are a real driver. Now I want to say to you first keep kissing passenger asses for tips or buying amenities to appease. For the real driver that is first forced to rent ,meaning paying weekly ie slaved to payments by the corporate rental companies and uber partners I first want to give a salute.because there is a bias and ny selfishness between renters and plate owners , the ny crabs in a barrel mentality is used. This is why plates sell for so high and no progress for others without it , because some or most plate owners feel entitled and dont want to see some without a plate to ever get there own.Now my old friend Doug rip, many drivers claiming they make good money let me first tell you sitting down daily will destroy your heart and kidney. When I first got in a rental I saw some pills on the side of the seat with a big E.google it. It's chronic, driver its not Extasy.thinking ubers insurance recommendations or black car fund or dental support is quality of living then you really have no clue .I have so much to say but it's chicken like you who would eat anything dog.i know guys who have contributed more money to the.mta than your home.also to city's double taxing.when your talking to real driver its real dog.i feel it for the veterans wh sacrifice for there children to go school and later very sick.i would tell you about the insurance companies but seems your not intelligent enough. Mta fdny sanitation any city department has union and benefits also they can abuse overtime and make 200k-400k plus with pensions tax free pensions btw.so scratch your head with your 400 a day I know the sacrifice it's not consistent. I presume you maybe just moved here.also to add what about those trips out of nyc at half or more fare on long distances what a Toll no fare review :)

What do you mean by the state taxing us 40%, do you mean the fares that the passengers pay? Also I check each ride fare details and uber takes out money from its own pockets about 10-20% of the time. We get some benefits like sick pay and dental insurance from black car fund, last year the dental insurance paid $1,400 for a part of a dental procedure that was done on me. The 4 minimum pay per ride and no more 20 dollars for New Jersey trips sucks. There was a company that was started involving the drivers but it is not a big company called coop something. And how much money are you expecting to earn, in this business you can't expect to get paid a salary like lawyers and doctors. Alot of drivers make 300-500 daily doing uber x so I think that is more than enough for making a living here in nyc.

The first site I am assuming is using the total of the 1099 forms or the total bank deposits an uber driver gets yearly. The second site is stating what should be the salary an uber driver is expected to make after expenses but before taxes.

It is disgraceful that hardworking drivers are fined simply for using the bathroom,” federation spokesman Fernando Mateo said in a press release. “They work long hours, endure tough conditions, and should not be forced to choose between their health and their income.
“When you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go.”
Many of the drivers — who often work grueling 12-hour shifts — are more than 40 or 50 years old and struggle with prostate issues, kidney disease, diabetes and high blood pressure, the statement said.

It's part of the job that we have to deal with. If you need to do #2 there are certain gas stations where you can park and go to. If you need to piss you can piss in many places park close to a nyc garbage can and use a bottle, or use a vomit bag like me and throw it in the garbage. They should set up tlc stations where drivers can shit in and take showers but it will require money and lots of maintenance and a huge parking lot.

The funniest thing I read is the drivers complaining that if they don't easily find places to park to use the bathroom then they will end up not making a profit for the day. Like how do they expense their uber expenses? Let me see, they probably pay 15,000 a year for insurance and pay 10 bucks for each gallon of gas. They buy a new iPhone each year for $1600 and expense the whole thing as an uber expense instead of half of it as they also use it for personal reasons. And still can buy a new car when they want one.

What’s funny is you’re barking up the wrong tree and expecting us to strike/protest over it. Uber is a private company that looks out for no one except Uber. It is their God-given capitalistic nature to squeeze every last penny out of drivers and riders alike if there is no law against it. This is where the TLC comes in.

The sooner you realize this, the sooner you will change course from the futile effort of complaining to Uber and lobby the TLC instead.
I wish I saw u in my playground
If I was in your playground, I would do #1 and #2 on it and wipe my ass with the money I would have made from not wasting my time complaining about the wrong things. 🤣😂🤑

I guess yall must be a couple I'm glad trumps tackling this kind of stuff ,but since you want to speak for your boyfriend that uses paper bags I would like to say for the REAL drivers don't listen to these anti man lobbyist .I presume women drivers should use a Bag or laugh like this couple I'm ubers 1% that's why I can talk but this couple can't for 70000 drivers personally I speak for myself posting other people's opinions that I can relate to with regards to taxi is what I do .what I will do is be a opinion that is mature and rational.i am against this fairy couple emeraldhue and Uberinghonda.I as many taxi drivers look to these forums and never made a statement but read for updates on better driving conditions not 1000 posts of humor of fairy. But today we have posts from ignorant fairy couples that's opinions seem to cover REAL issues as I type while making money I can also reject crap talk and will always .

Sure, you’re free to express your opinion, and I’m free to laugh at it, respectfully. But to think Trump is going to do anything about Uber and the TLC is beyond laughable. Regardless of your stance on Trump, he is the epitome of capitalism—both the good and bad side of it. Just keep on barking. Good luck with that.

The women drivers handle their bathroom business their own way I am guessing. Gas stations are probably the #1 place I assume they would go to find a bathroom, that is if they don't plan on staying all day in Manhattan. 2 times in the past I reached 60 online hours in a week. I must have spent 100 hours on the road those weeks. Did not pick up everywhere. About 95% of my pickups were in Brooklyn. Did not stop anywhere to take a dump, only pissed. Maybe I went home to take a dump and then came back out but I doubt I did that during those two weeks. Grossed 1600 with tolls and tips those 2 weeks. I know the people who pick up anywhere make more than me and have many places they can use the bathroom. I prefer not to take a dump while at work because I would not be able to clean myself well without showering. So stop crying about losing out on Manhattan trips when you need to use the bathroom when there are other drivers available to pick up passengers.

It looks like the TLC raised rates to $1.41 per mile and 61 cents per minute I didn't know that until today when I chPecked the fare details of a trip.
Black also had an insignificant increase of $0.625 —> $0.65 per minute and $2.055 —> $2.14 per mile. But Comfort really got the shaft with the only per minute increase to $0.62 while the per mile rate is equivalent to UberX.
