Check the location service on your phone. Open Google Maps and see if you see the right location. Also check if Uber Driver app location service is authorized. Turn off and turn on in settings. It might help.

If that doesn't help, look out your window. You're about 300 miles east of Miami. May be you're on a cruise ship.

It has only happened to me when Uber took me off the platform. Apparently someone tried to hack my account, and then Uber shut me out, forcing me to go to the hub to get it straigtened out. When I tried to go online, I got some kind of world view. I found out this is fixed simply by uninstalling and reinstalling the app. That doesn't mean, though, that this is what is going on with your app, "your mileage may vary", as it were.

 

If I remember correctly about a year ago we all had the world view for a couple of hours. I was stuck in Africa ?‍♂?‍♂?

 

When was the last time you turned your phone off, completely, for a full minute or two?

When I'm logging on from at home, there are two things i have to do. Otherwise, the app wont find my location and keep it updated.

1. First, turn off WiFi on my phone.
2. Second, turn on Location.

Perform those steps IN THAT ORDER.

THEN turn on the Uber driver app. Do not do this first.

If that doesn't fix it, reboot your phone.

Right, it was a nationwide outage and there were many threads about that. The whole Houston map was lighted up bright red with 3.0X+ soon after the technical problem was fixed ( Sigh.... I miss the multiplier)

I am pretty sure that someone in the ocean (or somewhere by spoofing location) trying to play with your app account. Have you ever lost your phone in which Uber app was installed? Better to talk to Uber to figure out more. If this is the case, they will help you to logging you out from that phone.

could be the wifi, could be gps issue theres some apps in store to recalibrate but things do break and or stop working I had an issue where it was putting me in a field and gliding nothing worked so just got a new phone

the Moto g line is a good cheap value, whenever you do upgrade use that phone for uber only, they have to much back door foolery going on, you should have a biz phone & a personal phone nary the 2 should meet, monthly pre paid sims are cheap

Here are my suggestions znd some questions;
1. Does this issue only happen in your office?
2. Go outside. Do you still have the issue?
3. Does the issue happen in other locations several miles away?
4. Does your location show accurately in Google Maps?
5. Turn off WiFi when working rideshare. Sometimes wifi is used to determine location and csn cause inaccurate results due to VPN's telco routing, etc.
6. Turn on location services.
7. Reboot your phone daily or anytime anomalies happen.
8. After rebooting phone with loc services on and wifi off, wait 2 minutes before starting Uber

Very interesting thought! You reminded me of having my phone left behind in the same restaurant twice. Perhaps the waiter / waitress there has played with it? Somehow it makes sense now. I have been receiving calls repeatedly from several same numbers once a while but the caller hang up. This is weird. I have opted out from commercial advertising calls.

There is 1 time that I almost dropped my phone. The person on the other side says "H.. H.. hi, Je..je..je...jessi...jessica? I.. I.....I" and then hang up. I am seriously considering to get a new phone number now.

On the other hand....why would a waiter / waitress interested in the driver app? They receive tips from each table they serve, right? They should probably make more than most of us, PT or not. Besides, that person could have withdrawn my weekly earning by changing the bank account information. No, this has not happened. I truly question what does he / she gain by messing with the app ?

My home / office is a base to wait for the 1st ping. This is the first time ever happened to me in the office.

Sometimes when the app dispatches me to a remote area where phone signals are weak, it remains online but the "little compass" showing current location is missing. However, in yesterday's scenario, the compass was still present.

Yes, it has happened during event pick-ups. The stadiums for Texans and Houston Astro games are about 3-5 miles away from my office. The app status remained online but it showed me a world map like what happened yesterday. I suspect this is due to an sudden spike in phone usage which causes a network outage.

(Not related though: I @@@@ hate events. The $5 surge is not worth all those @@@@ traffic (20 mins getting in and 30 mins getting out). Besides when those impatient animals cancel, I have to go to the hub and fight for the $3.75. Fool me once and no more!)
