Surge Pricing - No More Lightning Bolt?

I noticed the other day my driver app said it was surging everywhere (during a rain storm). When I look at the rider app I didn't see any lightning bolts. Or a feature where you have to agree to pay 1.5 or 3.6 times as much as the normal fare once you put in the destination. Why did they do this? we all know the driver app is super delayed when it comes to surges. You can only tell there's a surge in the rider app by actually tapping the little car icon and then tapping the min. fare or entering a destination and seeing the price options at the bottom. Then I have do some math to figure if it's a 1.5 surge or 2.1, etc.

Yes I did a ride estimate, but you can also tell just by clicking the Min. Fare and seeing that the rates aren't .13/min + .85 mile...anything higher and it's a surge. You just have to do some math to figure out of its 1.5 or 2.1 or 3.6 etc. The driver app in Uber is slightly delayed. I'm not sure if Lyft is the same way, I don't drive for Lyft and rarely do Uber anymore. Had a Pax tell me yesterday on my drive home their UberLux driver spent 10 hours at the airport before he got a request. All he did was complain to the Pax how bad Uber sucked now. Pretty sure he needs to return the Mercedes to the dealership or find a real job. Uber is a hobby, not a career.

Lighting bolt is alive and well... View attachment 47575
In our market the lightning bolt is gone for riders but surge does still exist. Riders now just see a flat rate fare for uberpool and a fare estimate for uberX. Beneath it is a small message that simply says "rates may be higher than normal" if surge pricing is in effect. Apparently this is being done solely to encourage the rider to take pool rather than to blatantly tell them they're paying more than they would at any other time (aka surge pricing).
