I got something I never saw before. After dropping a pax I got stuck in super traffic and hit a $3.75 Uber surge. I just started accepting rides that were 3-4 minutes away. Since I couldn't move, the pax would cancel and of couse I didn't get any cancellation fee (Uber kept the $5) but I still got the $3.75 surge for not moving. Happened a few times till somebody by some miracle actually found me and I took that pax. Also first time that the time fee helped me make it worthwhile because the ride was so slow. And the grateful pax even tipped being impressed with a traffic avoiding (but longer) alternate route I was able to take. Time was more important than money. Uber took a negative fare on that one!

* longer alternate route = more $ - you win
* Time was more important - pax win
* Uber took a negative fare - Uber lose

Isn't this the perfect trip?
