Just saw this message, I wonder how long we have to wait until customer sends their pin code

Drivers stealing food marking as delivered as well, first time customers get pins as well, some drivers drop food off at wrong address and don’t bother to call when it clearly says meet at door. It’s not only bc of the scummy customers trying to say they didn’t get their food or requests too many refunds

This feature rolled out for another member a few months ago, and I just received the email today as well. I don’t recall any members actually even sharing their experience with this pin feature yet on this forum, so I’m not sure how widely it is being used by customers.

I’ll be curious to see if anyone in my region actually uses this and I’ll report back if they do.

What I don't see is instructions if the customer is unavailable to provide the pin.
What we supposed to do?
Oh that's easy you call support... wait ten minutes for them to figure out what to do or for them to talk to 6 other people to get an answer meanwhile you're missing other trips left and right.

Philadelphia area has had PIN numbers since at least last September when I resumed driving UE. The newbie customers usually get stuck with it until they figure out how to opt out of it, I think. Obviously it’s only for “Meet at Door” customers and not all such customers opt for it.

I dislike it because I tend not to notice the PIN request screen until the very end when it pops up where the swipe usually is at the bottom of the screen. Customers and I sometimes forget to discuss the PIN in our haste to complete the delivery. A couple times, I’ve knocked on the door, etc. after delivery and noticing the pin request screen. Anyway, UE forgives it and allows you to mark it completed if you forget to get the PIN.

i had one today, didn’t know pin was involved until I left restaurant to deliver.

if you give the customer the food and dont
Get the pin, you can’t close out the order (obviously).

texting the customer is a good idea as it doesn’t create an issue where customer doesn’t have pin.

is this something Uber is assigning to people who habitually claim food was not delivered ?

What happens if the customer forgets the pin, doesn't give it to you, or gives you the wrong pin and leaves???

Sounds like a pain....
According to another member in this thread (Post#13/Bottom of post), if they don't provide the pin or you can't reach the customer, you can still close out the order without the pin. Now, I haven't tried that, but maybe somebody else can confirm.

I had to do one today and it wasnt too bad as long as the customer are made aware they must give the code to complete the transaction, the customer met me at door and was quick to give the code. So it wasnt too bad the other idea they were floating around was a square looking QR code that would appear on the eaters phone and the driver would have to scan it like we all do to get menus now. Glad they took this route it's pretty easy as long as customer is not a dummy and stays reachable

I remember they started having PIN numbers for pax. You had to verify their identity and put their PIN number into the app to start the trip
It comes up only occasionally in this market. Most customers are surprised by it, but readily find the PIN. It has been around for some time for passengers.

What I don't see is instructions if the customer is unavailable to provide the pin. What we supposed to do?
Recipient unavailability always has been a problem for any delivery. As Fubar cares nothing about its drivers, it, of course, failed to anticipate this problem and put out instructions for drivers.

.........all uncompensated, of course.................
