About three months ago I was in the middle of taking three riders down the street during a ride when a drunk driver comes barreling down an overpass bridge and nails a car that then nails me in some drizzle after it had been raining. The driver pulled up and his passenger says "sorry we've been drinking." Everybody including me was in shock and dazed and confused. My car was and is totaled. The back is completely destroyed. As we pulled aside and made sure the driver followed us, his buddy was gone. He gets out and starts pacing back and forth. I asked him "what the **** happened man." He barely spoke English but pointed to the water.
Anyway, as we were waiting for the cops and all were talking to one another including the driver who hit me who was nailed by the Asian man who hit everybody, we were kind of scattered looking at each others vehicles and what not. Well the culprit driver then flees on foot! Everybody freaks and starts looking for him. The cops get there and we explain what happened. Nobody ever finds the bastard. But he leaves his car behind which has Arkansas license plates and we are in California.
Moreover, fast-forward to three months later and we are still working with the cops to find out the rightful owner of the vehicle as it was believed to be stolen, and all involved police departments have been close to zero help. This guy is going to jail for a long time for hit and run and admitting to being drunk. I'm going to sue his ass too!
But beside my shitty luck and incident, the point of this complaint is to talk about Uber's unethical shit. I just got back to work this week using a truck my dad and I now share so I can continue to make money. I haven't worked for Uber in three months but was working for my parents a little bit to get by as I looked for another job. This first week back I made about $275 with Uber. I go and look at my pay statement, it's $59.00 with $210 in deductions. I think to myself "what the ****" as I sit there and scratch my head, my hearts beating fast and my blood is boiling. I look at the deductions, they had the nerve to charge me $15 a week since my accident for the Uber iPhone device subscription fee! Which, added up to $210.
I blew up their stupid email support like 30 times with the same thing so I could talk to a ton of different people and get fast responses if one didn't work. Thats how you have to do it with those ******s, because everybody knows there is no number you can call. No help hotline for their workforce in dire need of assistance. I told them how they failed to inform me that I would continue to be charged until my device was turned in, failed to inform me that the price from $10/week increased to $15, and failed to inform me that we no longer could use the damn provided phone and had to use our own! That turned out not to work anyway, they all kept giving me the same bologna. I'm stuck with a whopping $59.00 to get me through the rest of the week. YAY! Thanks Travis Kalanick, you nice guy you! Let's go get a beer. There is just no sympathy with these people. And I do read the emails and updates and never see anything related to important changes like this. My situation is unique, I feel like I should be reimbursed. Whats $210 to a 63 billion dollar company? I'll never see a dime of that money. ****in sucks man! Oh well. Uber isn't worth it anymore. The price cuts for riders and the higher cut Uber takes and the dumb "booking/safe ride fee," whatever that really is, makes the profit margin so small it's jut not worth it. Once the new Tesla comes out and unmanned cars are a thing, it's over!
