...why would they continue to charge for a phone service thats been terminated anyway?
Because the phone is an asset to the company, it represents money that was spent so that it could be used for the terminated phone service. Until the device is returned, you are responsible for the rental charges associated with the device. Once it is returned, that asset can be turned back into liquidity for the company.

Similarly, if you get cable TV, and you rent a cable box to watch your cable TV channels. You decide to go on a 2 month trip to backpack through Europe, and you are smart enough to think ahead and suspend your cable TV service while you are away (why pay $80/month or more when nobody will be around?).

You will still be charged for the RENTAL fees for any equipment that is on your cable bill while you are away. Unless, of course, you return that equipment.

Thanks for the lesson in economics and accounting! Why are you wasting your time trolling the complaints section of this forum where Uber drivers are ranting about their issues and sitting here acting like the way Uber treats it's drivers is okay?
Uber's treatment of it's drivers is not related to a driver not owning up to his own mistake that cost him $210.

When I make a mistake in my life, I am more than capable of admitting that mistake to myself and dealing with the consequences, rather than placing blame on other people or companies that may have benefited from *my* error. And trust me when I say I have made PLENTY of mistakes in my years that have resulted in the loss of quite a bit more than $210 in total.
