Yea, rideshare drivers are contributing greatly to congestion. There's no denying it. I emailed this prediction in late 2014 when I thought there was a chance of being listened to. Like I wanted to help the company I worked with to make a good service. & While people were stressing about whether they only allowed rapists to drive, I was like, "Uber, I wouldn't worry about
that, because they are
really going to start hating Uber cuz of the traffic we're causing." They didn't listen

Yea, I'm tooting my horn cuz it's at least something to feel vindicated about having foreseen something, since they've run the company into the ground, quality wise, and I felt foolish & disappointed after having been optimistic 3 years ago and enjoyed that I was taking part in helping it be something of quality. So at least the vindication is
something.
Hell Yea, we contribute to congestion. And why shouldn't buses have a lane? It helps the public transport stay reliable. People really shouldn't be still with this old time greedy American lifestyle of the 20th century. We might have had a land of electric trains, but automobile and oil lobbyists pushed for a highway system (god bless the corporate states of america). It's all easy for me to
type this versus living the changes that must happen, but that doesn't make me wrong. And there would be construction anyways, cuz stuff needs building with all the people coming here, I guess. But SF isn't obligated to accept the invasion of cars from (where's that colorful list
Uberdancer made about all the places they come from) just so Uber & Lyft can have their businesses. Even
we'd benefit if they'd at least limit the number of sign ups. They also would then have fostered better relationships with those of us who did it reliably and seriously. Those of us who had a vested interest in the company doing well, rather than all the people who came along just to try to get all the easy money they could and ***** when it isn't all easy, and quit soon after their sign on bonus. SF has no obligation to tolerate them saturating the roads with a driver only 2 minutes away from everyone at all times. And so many of these people don't even know how to drive here. They're so ridiculous out there, and seem to feel no shame when there whole block is backed up stuck behind some dude just blocking a lane, while no one in the back knows it's happening cuz they can't see up that far, and no one can go around, cuz the next lane is full of cars already.
I survive off Uber, so I don't want to lose my position and I don't want to look for a "normal" job (I'd rather die, really, like really, so I'm not saying this stuff easily, cuz I want rideshare to stick around at least a little while longer), but it's true. I like doing the job and wish the companies were run better. You can't blame people for hating it. Like geez, this was an issue a long time ago. It's not like it's a sudden realization. It's been like this for months already.
I didn't read the article, btw, I'm just saying "hell yea, the rideshares are contributing greatly to congestion, whether or not construction and bus lanes do, too".
