Saturday morning, 2.3 surge... I catch 6 minutes away 1.5 pool. Again, I must have been the 12-15th driver to let that pass... Hello 7-9 minutes away driver who might have taken it. 8 requests this morning, 6 for pools - 2 Uber X. I only took the two Uber X. My acceptance rate is super low but I have no concern if they deactivate me I have Lyft and I know it's less money per hour due to less calls but I'll enjoy the down time.

man, why accept pool and drive slowly, it may get second pool. good luck.

I had a pick up at O'Hare. I picked the guy up and headed toward downtown and got almost all the way to the Cumberland Avenue exit when wouldn't you know it? I had another pool request. I get off and head straight back to O'Hare. Normally I would have just ignored it but "Mr. Here for a Conference" wanted to save money so I let him. And it's only a few miles back to O'Hare from there so I hope he enjoyed the extra 20 minutes in the car. Most of these dim bulbs don't understand what pool means but you can bet your ass they do when they get out of my car. And my rating hasn't suffered a bit because I simply blame "The Big Shots" at Uber and they wind up feeling bad for ME. Haha
Do you have an SUV? I couldn't imagine doing Pool out of Ohare with my 4-door midsize Hyundai. The trunk might not take that much luggage. BTW...great post BobbyLee.

Yep Uber pool stinks! I stay out of LA because of this. It's big in all of LA, Santa Monica, Hollywood, etc. I now stay in LB and only drive Uber Select. I do not get a whole lot of requests, but still make respectable $ each week. I'm done chasing the surge with Uber X and doing all the miles. It's not worth it. In the end you lose.

I dont think the pax want pool, the black button says get uberx, but if you push it nothing happens. you must enter destination, when you put destination, the black button changes to request pool. most pax dont read the button twice, as it said uberx originally and they dont know it changes when they entered the destination. Uber is bait and switching 75% of the passengers that want their own car and not some dumb arse pool ride for one hour! Im pretty sure its borderline illegal. bait and switch.

I had a previous experience with a woman who brought her dog without warning. It was 4am on Sunday morning so I was too tired to complain or fight. I figured last trip and get it over with.
The dog kept sniffing and licking my neck and head from behind. It was actually soothing and felt good. The woman also left a non-monetary tip:)
Gonna need some details on that "tip" you got

Passengers have told me that they can't figure out how to disable pool. I think it's pretty obvious that Uber is trying to force the passengers into pool. Lady today didn't realize that she requested a pool (she was the second passenger) and she was late to a meeting.

I ignored at least 10 pool pings today. I have accidentally accepted a few big mistake and in those cases I take all subsequent pool pings until the pool party is over and then I get more careful. Had a girl miss her flight on Monday. Felt bad for her but there was nothing I could do.

So I'm very new to Uber and to this board. I don't have enough rides yet to be offered these pool requests yet. Because I have so few rides, my rating has taken a hit due to two 4 star ratings. If I guess at the two that did not rate me the 5 stars (and its strictly a guess) I would say it was the two that there were issues with arrival times for the pick up. (a combination of distance I had to travel to get there & some impatient people) That being said, does it not seem like Uber is setting us up for poor ratings with this deceptive "pool" option?

Don't sweat the ratings too much at the start. They'll fluctuate wildly because you don't have many rides. Just do your best to pick them up and get them to their destination and be friendly. Pool rides do set you up for low ratings because the riders want to make extra stops or get ticked off when you pick up a second pax. Nothing you can do about it. Once you get a few hundred rides in your ratings will stabilize. You're always going to get some pax that are jerks. Don't let it ruin your day. Drop them off and move on to the next one.

Uber Pool is a very ill conceived idea, I totally hate it. What I hear from many passengers is that the Uber app makes it difficult and confusing now for the rider to select a regular Uber X ride. Many passengers tell me they didn't mean to select Uber Pool but that the app is confusing to use. This of course doesn't surprise me, given Uber's track record. This is absolutely guaranteed to increase your risk of an accident, lower your weekly potential earnings and lower your rating.
