I feel your pain. Only recourse right now is to "exucate" the Poo l riders by accepting every last one of them, especially the ones where they have to do off an O'hare pax before they get all the way dwntwn and are late for their oh-so-important meeting. Aside from the humor / satisfaction it brings me in exchange for the stupidity of it all, we are educating them. Don't forget to treat yourself to the 2 minute "no-show" feature whenever you can - I can't tell you how many times I've turned a Poo l ping into $4 no-show plus a re-ping by the same ignorant rider.

1. If a passenger has a dog they better call and ask if me if it is ok and I don't care if it's a tea cup Chihuahua or I would cancel.

2. If I accepted pool requests which I don't! I'm not transporting some cheap assholes dog as well!

***Before any animal lovers lash out at me I love dogs and they are always welcome in my car as long as the passenger calls and asks!
If I ever picked up a passenger with a dog, cat or any other animal, no matter the consequence, I'm cancelling.

No animals allowed in this Highlander.

I agree, inform me in advance. They must also understand the ride doesn't end until I verify there is no mess. I may also request that they cover the cost of a vacuum. I'm a huge animal lover but we have to protect our investment. My experience is that most of these riders are really cool, they tip at a high rate, and will often have a towel or blanket with them for the dog to sit on.

I once picked up a blind lady with her guide dog. I didn't know it beforehand of course. I don't regret the experience. The dog was the most well behaved pax I ever had. I had a very interesting conversation with the blind lady.

I had a previous experience with a woman who brought her dog without warning. It was 4am on Sunday morning so I was too tired to complain or fight. I figured last trip and get it over with.
The dog kept sniffing and licking my neck and head from behind. It was actually soothing and felt good. The woman also left a non-monetary tip:)

This is important for newer drivers. BEWARE OF SERVICE ANIMALS. There was some bad publicity a while back about a driver refusing to drive somebody with a service animal. Needless to say he no longer a driver. Also from what I understand you are not allowed to ask for proof that it is a service animal, although I may be wrong. If it really is a service animal it one of the best trainded you will ever encounter and you have nothing to worry about.

Is it OK to just drop off a blind person and their guide-dog...or should you help them get into the house, store, or whatever. My instinct would be to help her enter and exit my car, along with assisting as needed, after arriving at the destination.

Okay, I'll bite. What was the "non-monetary tip'?

You guys are cRaZy. You really have to start picking up every pool request you get. I'd say easily, easily half of the passengers HATE the pool option. You haven't lived until you get some super impatient, cheap ass Pakistani women that thought she'd save $2 on a $7 ride stuck in your car for an hour while you drive around picking up other people.

Or wait until you see the look on the guy's face who is going to be late for work, or for a flight at O'Hare because now you have to drive four miles out of the way to pick up somebody else. I'm in my car anyway, what the Hell do I care? You chose pool, You get pool. Suffer the consequences. Oh and you should see the look on their faces when the guy you picked up second gets dropped off first haha. I've had people say they'd rather be dropped off than do the pool option when they thought all it was going to do was save them $3. I stop the car and say "Okay, but I have to drop you off here and go get the other rider, you can get the next Uber car I'm sure it won't be a problem" even if it's the side of the road in the middle of nowhere Palatine. They usually change their minds pretty fast at that point.

I promise you, if every Uber driver insisted on picking up every pool rider the customers would start screaming so loud there is no way Uber wouldn't hear them.

I'd love to know what % of Uber riders really do complain, and complain loudly? Wouldn't surprise me at all if these whiny Pool riders complain to Uber that their ride took too long, despite pickups, and hang it on the driver as a way to get their $3 refunded to them.

Either way I bet they'd only have to be late for work/a flight once or twice and word would spread like wildfire if Uber is in such a hurry to do what the passengers want then fine. Give it to them. Make them live by their own rules.

OK. Yesterday I broke down and accepted all pool rides that were under 7 minutes for the pickup. pizza guy (...at least the ETA times are showing up now!)
I actually got a matched ride for the one of the pools I accepted....and guess what? Neither of them were 'toes to the curb' @ 2 minutes! I got $8 for a 10 minute ride in an attempt to pick up both riders! :p That was fun!

My first pool ride yesterday was a brand new Uber customer....had to school her on what Pool really is. She was shocked. She also gave me a $4 tip! So far, between the 2 minute no shows to the slightly increased number of tips....I might continue to accept pools...as long as they are under 7 minutes ETA.

I had a pick up at O'Hare. I picked the guy up and headed toward downtown and got almost all the way to the Cumberland Avenue exit when wouldn't you know it? I had another pool request. I get off and head straight back to O'Hare. Normally I would have just ignored it but "Mr. Here for a Conference" wanted to save money so I let him. And it's only a few miles back to O'Hare from there so I hope he enjoyed the extra 20 minutes in the car. Most of these dim bulbs don't understand what pool means but you can bet your ass they do when they get out of my car. And my rating hasn't suffered a bit because I simply blame "The Big Shots" at Uber and they wind up feeling bad for ME. Haha
