Pool and the incorrect number of people

So first let me say I do not normally take pool so maybe that is why I am missing something (only did last week to meet the incentive) but are drivers letting pool passengers in their car with more than one person even though the rider said only one person? I had this happen twice last week. Woman gets in with someone and she only said one person - I told her she needed to update the quantity because Uber wouldn't let me do it - it kept telling me to tell her to update it. She said oh well other drivers let me do it all the time. Well she messed around so long Uber canceled the ride while she was in the car. So she paid a cancel fee and then had to request the ride the right way.

Second person again only said one person and had two. Also wanted to go to more than one destination. Of course my rating takes a hit for telling them they are doing it wrong. This week's incentive is crud so no pool rides for me this week.

Uber would not let me. I kept trying - it said tell the passenger to update on their end.

POOL is 1-2 passengers so if they have 2 and only say they need 1 on APP it doesn't really matter
It matters if you get more people than you have seats in your car, if you have more than one pool request.

Mine always has me confirm one or two people before I even start the trip. I don't even say anything to them I just pick the appropriate number and move along.
it used to for me as well, but last week it wasn't letting me have the option.

Passengers try to think they are slick, i'll refuse to start the trip if they don't adjust, i hear excuses all the time, if they don't adjust it before i start the trip i save my rating and have them try to fool another driver.

accepting pool request not only you wont make money, you'll get more stressed and you'll kill your rating with these passengers.

NEVER ACCEPT POOL unless its a super high surge.

Ive also noticed a lot of pool request passengers have a 4.7 rating or lower. HA Go Figure!

4.8 of higher only gets accepted.

The app asks me to confirm the number of riders (1 or 2). I once had three riders wanting to POOL when I just started driving for Uber, I cancelled for too many riders and was paid $3.75.

It would take a surge of at least 2x for me to consider accepting them. When I do, I immediately stop new requests since we get paid by time and mileage.

As for passenger ratings, Chicago Uber drivers can't see them.

2 weeks ago I was 4 rides short of making weekday quest incentive at 10PM so I was willing to take a couple of pools and then head home. Got my first pool rider and within a minute got another single pool ride request. I arrive to pick her up and there's a male companion with her. I explained the pool rules to her and told her he could ride along until such time as I get another request. She initially agreed---her companion also said no problem.

About 5 minutes into the ride I accept a 3rd pool request. I turn around and inform them that her friend has to get out. She started getting belligerent and told me it won't kill the other pool rider to be a little uncomfortable for a couple of minutes since they are only a couple of miles away from their destination. I ended her pool ride then and there and 1-star'd her. I didn't notice any hit on my rating so she probably didn't bother to rate me.

How cheap do you have to be to cheat and try to at get a freebie on a pool ride?

I did text Uber about her scam and belligerent behavior.

I had a trip from Midway to Lincoln Park. Two Pool trips thatcame in very quickly at Midway. One was a single, and the other was for 2, totaling 3. As I go up Lake Shore drive, I get another Pool request, so I got to get it. When I got to the pickup, there are 2 people and the app shows for 1 plus 1. That makes 5 people. Screwed up app. It cannot count, 1+2+2=5, not 4.. I cancelled the trip and told the couple to order an UberX.

I do the same and stop follow-on requests. But , in this case I had been driving 6 hours and was tired. Just wanted to get those 4 rides to make the $105 incentive and go home.

We don't see the rider's rating in the Chicago market.
you don't see a pool riders rating if it is second or more

Here make a u-turn downtown Downers Grove during rush hour right before the train tracks because I am already on pool and too cheap to let you go to the light that is yards away.
For me, I'd ignore the rider and keep on going. I do U-turns only when it is absolutely safe. In your case it was most likely not and the rider could walk or get cancelled

I did ignore him, then he screamed at me to go through the bank drive through the wrong way. He said oh you must not be from around here. I said actually I live in Downers but I know how to drive around it legally. He knocked me for navigation in the app.

Ok. You should have let him walk!. I had a Pool call last week at the Cheese Cake Factory north of the Loop. The rider+1 said they would be out in a minute. OK , I'll give them a little time, but then I get called and they say they cannot find me. It turns out they were across the street, so I cancel the call and start to make a left turn on to Michigan Ave. I get a knock on my window and the girl says "did you cancel us", I said "yes" and drove away.

While I don't agree that bringing 2 riders when ordering one is ok and I don't take them, you are right that you won't get more than 3 pool pax (on the app anyhow). You will get a ratings hit from the 3rd pax that ends up being a 4th though.
On Lyft Line it's quite common to get 4 passengers. I've had lots of 2+2s. This is the reason I no longer take line in the city at all. I take them in the burbs only if they're the direction I was already going or less than 6 minutes away.

According to Uber support, the maximum number of persons in a Pool ride is never more than 4, no matter if you are driving a bus.

sounds almost like my van. A ford transit connect xlt. But no one rides in the 3 row. I had Pool pax that were supposed to be two and there were three or four or more. I just drive away and tell Uber about them. I haven't had any newgative feedback from Uber for that.
Thx for the info. When Uber covers my car operating expenses they can tell me I have to take 4 pool riders. Until that time, MY max for MY car is 3 pool riders.
