I decided to enter the airport Queue shortly after 3:30 AM the other night only because it said there were only 16 cars in the queue. As I pull into the lot, I see around 120 cars in the lot. WTH?? So after parking my car I decided to walk around a bit and investigate. Several cars around me had the glowing pink emblem in their windows. They were engaged in conversation with other drivers who did not have a glow stache, but still had a bring pink app. I counted about 30 of them. Ok....90 more to go.
Down by the East wall, I saw about 20 Ants with Prius' lined up perfectly so as to give them room on the ground before them. Trunks were open and some were handling or unfolding prayer rugs. Ok 70 to go.
As I walked around more I saw the usual cluster of 20 to 30 Ants sitting on the South Wall and Jersey Barriers, no phone in hand or visible, talking about life and whatever else you would talk about if your hobby was go to a parking lot and sit and talk for hours on end. Ok 40 to go.
By the north side of the lot I saw around 10 Prius' sitting parked, phones visible with the Uber app online and in Queue.
Then I saw them......the missing Ants. On the north west side of the lot there were about 25 to 30 Prius' sitting parked, dark and quiet. No phone or signs of life came from these cars. As I walked by I could see the ants, curled up in sleeping bags sound asleep over the folded down back seats of their cars. There were also packages of food, gallons of bottled water, and clothing inside as well. It was obvious these Ants were living in their cars. I wondered if these were Exchange Lease cars. $720 to $780 a month can be an overwhelming burden to some. This might also explain some of the minivans I've seen in the lot lately. A few weeks ago I saw a VW Eurowagen in the lot, parked. She was sitting right next to me. I saw phone mounted in the window with the Uber app visible. Most likely Uber Eats.
As I walked back to my car, I noticed an Ant running laps around the lot. No big deal except that when he came up to the west side of the lot, instead of staying inside the TNC side, he continued his jog into the taxi side and disappeared up by their building. A few seconds later he reappeared, still jogging across their lot. He darted down the little hill, and across the paths of 8 taxi drivers who were standing in a group talking. I watched the taxi driver's eyes narrow as they tracked his pace. I read the looks on their faces as they watched the Ant. It made me think of those plastic duck shooting gallaries you see at carnivals. I lost sight of the Ant briefly as he disappeared into the darkeness.
Suddenly I heard a noise and I looked up to see the Ant running out of the darkeness and coming straight at me. He continued pace until he got 5 feet from me before suddenly turning right and continuing his run past the port-a-potties and to the East again.
Was like straight out of "Get Out" for those that saw that movie. I got back in my car before someone started rattling tea cups
