I would ask them for Complaints Book. Why they force you (us) to produce documents that are not stated in their rules?! Am I missing something?

According to:
https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/taxis-and-private-hire/licensing/private-hire-vehicle-licence

Quote:
You must make a booking to have your vehicle inspected. You will need to present the following original documents when you take your vehicle in:

    • Existing PHV vehicle licence (if applicable)
    • V5c DVLA Vehicle Registration Certificate
    • Hire and reward insurance documents
    • MOT certificate issued within the last 14 days
    • Vehicle modification documents
    • Any other relevant documentation relating to the vehicle, where appropriate, such as Voluntary Individual Vehicle Approval (VIVA)

  • V5c DVLA Vehicle Registration Certificate
Anyone tried with V5C/2? This is small green part of V5C form handed to new owner (called New keeper's details). It states on the bottom that: 'This will not produce a Registration Certificate' but receiving this full certificate may take up to 4-6 weeks!

  • Any other relevant documentation relating to the vehicle, where appropriate.
This may be a tricky one. What do they mean exactly? Bollocks

I am going to ask them. The thing is that they will answer an email maybe in 5-10 working days. Other option is to phone them on a paid number (...calls from landlines are typically charged between 2p and 10p per minute and calls from mobiles typically cost between 10p and 40p per minute. Connection charges may apply.) https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/terms-and-conditions/tfl-call-charges

Anyway I need this to be sorted and explained as TFL is non consistent in what they saying/doing.

Peace out!
If you want to Licence a vehicle with the new keeper slip then you need to have a purchase receipt.

I had to produce one several years ago.

My mate nearly failed his second time round...

1st time they made him do another MOT as it was the 14th day and they said cant accept that ...

2nd time the guy checked everything then called my mate outside and said you have 1 minute to take the music system out of the boot (think it was a loud woofer :D ) ... My mate said ok is that the only problem? He said Yes .. Took it out quickly and he cleared it..

He also told my mate that if the car is involved in any sort of accident and there is even a smallest tiniest sharp edge on body then it would fail the test for safety reasons and that is what most drivers dont know.

There you go guys thats my two pennies worth...All the best :D
Damn, mini cabbing used to be so cheap to get into. Now how much you think it costs to enter the trade. ÂŁ5000+
And the time waiting for pco

5000+ cost of the car!

'Making an application for a PHV licence
To make an application for a new PHV licence or renewing an existing taxi licence, you can either book online via tfl.gov.uk/tph or call the vehicle contact centre on 0343 222 5555'

I can't see any facility to book online. Another TFL contradiction?

Hi guys
I just made a new insurance for my car but it takes 5-10 days to sending me the policy documents.... And what if i am making only temporary insurance for 1 or 2 days? do they require the original document for that as well??? That is bullshit as the insurance copany will send the document while the insurance will be expired.
Or is that enough to show the TFL guys the printed email about the new insurance??

Ask them to send you the insurance via email and then you print it out and take it to the PCO guys that's what I did

I took my vehicle for its 1st inspection today and it failed on documents. I produced the MOT, Insurance, Road Tax receipt and New Keeper slip, but they also wanted to see the receipt for the purchase of the vehicle (I didn't see any info about that on the TFL website).

I thought I'd post this as a heads up to anyone else who's taking a vehicle they'd just bought for inspection.

I'm back in tomorrow morning.
I made one my self had my dad write one lol are u stupid ? They mention what you need when you call

Inspection Manual page 29 says:
"No Smoking Signage is a legal requirement and must be attached to the designated area in a licensed taxi and for PHV attached in a visibly prominent place but must not obscure the driver or passengers visibility from the windows or be attached to any airbag systems. The no smoking sign must be at least 70mm diameter. Please refer to PCO notice 17/07"

I am not clear with the no smoking signs in the car. Do i need to put these stickers inside the dashboard at the passenger side?? Or they are not so strict about this??
To be honest i am looking many PCO cars around the city and i can not really see these stickers inside the car.
Or they just removing after the inspection has passed??

I've never put no smoking signs in my cars and at PHV tests they've never asked

The only stickers I had were for "No Food & Drjnk to be consumed in vehicle", When I did do nights many moons ago, no one was allowed in to the car with kebabs, burgers or fried chicken to stink my car out

It means this Inspection Manual is rubbish outdated...I just downloaded yesterday.
Now i can see how careless the TFL about this. :(
I do not understand why are they giving false information? Why they do not update?

It just need to replace my back windscreen PCO sticker as a TFL officer removed last night...But i do not have hard copy insurance certificate as headway always send me on email as PDF file.
