The Uber office is your best bet, unless the pax happens to live near you, let the pax know you will drop it off there when you are in the area. Don't go crazy out of your way, but make sure they get their money back.

Oh yes?, who is going to pay him for the trip to the Uber office? Is it going to come out the $ 50? Like I said just keep it and call it a day.
The Uber office is in a moderately convenient area to drop stuff off at, it was a bit more convenient at it's previous location, but I pass the new location often enough as well. Of course you wouldn't know this since you don't drive in Columbus, yet alone on the planet Earth.

I am willing to take on the expense of driving 20 miles to the local Uber office to ensure the PAX has to be inconvenienced to get the item back.
The Uber office isn't 20 miles away from most drivers, it's less than a mile from most of the Short North, just over a mile from the Arena District, and about 1.5-2 miles from campus and downtown proper. Chances are you end up at one of those places during the day, easy drop.

The office is closed for the weekend though, if you didn't get it today you'll have to wait until Monday (10am-7pm).

If I do return it to the UBER office, how do i know that the employees will not just pocket the money to themselves? I mean this is just money, it has no one's name on it. This would be a WHOLE different story if a PAX left a wallet, or a cell phone, but this is money.

Because you told the pax you dropped it off at the office. Heck get a pic with both the cash and the employee you gave it to at the same time.

Not to mention that the PSC logs all partner visits, so they would have a record of you being there. It's much safer to drop it off than to just keep it.

You could still take it directly back to the pax, but if that's out of the way the office might be a better option.

But if they contacted you and let it be known that it was that amount and you have it, why not return it. Why keep it? As a decent thing to do. It sucks but whats wrong with being good natured? ImI'm not judging tho... Just wondering why it has to be such a big deal...
Exactly.
You have acknowledged possession of the money.
Hand it over.
It is known by all parties that you have the money.
Don't even be tempted.

Before the office says " what money "?

This thread and string of comments is just disturbing. Is there no social conscience left on our society? Do the right thing and return the money, period!
I agree with you. However, you will see more and more drivers not returning money or valuables due to Uber's greedy rate cuts. The company is forcing drivers to deter from acceptable norms in order to make ends meet.

Even thou I would 100% return it I cannot really blame someone considering on keeping it.

A PAX left a lot of money in my car over
$50 now wants it back, she has my personal number and wants the money back ASAP. I'm not driving all the way on the other side of town to return her money. What should I do about this? I'm gonna be at the Casino tonight so if she can't meet me there at a certain time then it's my money. I don't have time and not wasting an hour going out of my way to return cash left in my car.
$50 is a lot of money? She must be an Uber Driver. Did she tip? I have never found anything a non tipper thinks they left in my car...never

Drunks remembering leaving cash, what a nice scam...could of said $100 or even $500. Finders keepers

Is there no social conscience left on our society
No, there is no social conscience. Knowing that fact, why should a driver spend his time, gas and mileage returning something that was left in his car? The responsibility lies with the person who couldn't keep track of their money, cell phone, *****, keys, crackpipe or whatever they left. They should call the driver, accept responsibility for being careless, and negotiate a reasonable, fair way to retrieve their items.

You ask, is there no social conscience? I ask, does anybody take responsibility for their actions?
