Hi. I'm arriving to new York on may 21st around 8.30pm. Wanted to see if anyone is willing to give me and my gf a ride to a hotel by times square. We can bypass uber and I'll pay cash.

How much? And what are you driving?

Thanks.

Mike.

I might do it but where the heck is times square?
How much what?
Oh... do I really need to know what I'm driving or is that a trick question?

This guy was solid. He only made me wait 23 minutes while they waited for their bags. Then a quick 5 min for a smoke. I didn't even mind the $200 ticket for obstructing traffic. I got you homie. Of course they definitely wanted to save the tunnel toll so I made my way to the super busy bridge. Ah. The city lights at dusk. Quick traffic stop for a few selfies on the Queensboro, a few cusswords our way and here we go. Moving again. The rest of the ride was uneventful because the blonde got busy busy at this point. Ohhhhhhh I hope the potholes weren't too bad. Anyway. Get to their hotel. All's good. I pay him $40 cash and thank him for the opportunity. He said he left a tip for me in the car. Super excited. When I go back in I realize the a-holes took my charging cable and all 4 Fiji waters. Thanks.

What happens if there is no base and the driver is just working for themself? I'm based in CT, not NYC, but I take prearranged stuff every day to pick up at NYC airports. Customers can't make reservations with individual TLC drivers?
Is your vehicle registered to a base that you own? We are talking about NYC TLC plates. I just want to make sure we are on the same page.

I'm just curious how it works with TLC drivers and "prearranged" pickups. Do all TLC drivers have to belong to a base? My vehicle is registered to me (as well as the insurance and the limo plates), but it's in CT, so maybe separate set of rules as far as picks go.

You must belong to a base and all jobs must go through a base. If I take a base Job and soothing happens the base has a record of the job and all jobs are submitted to the Tlc so they can trace.. When we do private jobs in New York that do not go through a base to be logged it is technically a street hail here in New York and a huge fine. Connecticut guys can pick up to go back to Connecticut from New York but not drop off in New York.
What if you own the base and also drive?

That's fine too. Guys do do that.

I was thinking it may be better to just do it through Juno. You're only paying %10.

The only problem is I charge some customers more than Uber.. This where I think Juno should act like Square.and let a driver fill out a service slip with a flat fee.

It would need a calendar for every driver so say a private want you Sunday and you accept for X amount. And Juno gets its cut.

The problem with these apps is they're not thinking outside the box. They all are playing the same way.

Back home from a trip to new york.

How much is the toll from laguardia to Manhattan? Uber charged me $5.54. I hope the driver wasn't screwed on a toll.

Cars were nice. I had avalon, accord, camry and Mercedes e class. All new models. Bad thing.. none of the drivers spoke understandable english. And they were staring at the gps. One guy stank so bad and there was trash in the backseat. All got tips even the stinky one. Lol

I had to take a taxi because my phone died. Yellow camry. Driver was driving like a nut. He also had bunch of warning lights on his dash... low tire pressure, check engine and a yellow triangle. Don't know what the last one meant.

Last day I needed to go back to airport and uber was surging 2.5x and lyft was at 100% pt. No thanks. I asked a doorman and he hooked me up with a limo in front of hotel for $50+$10 tip.

Otherwise it was a memorable trip. I'll be back.

You do realize that you were ripped off being charged $50.00 to LaGuardia. Why tip another $10.00. You came to NYC on May 11 looking for a good price, now your leaving proud of being over charged. Did you win that much money of the 3 card Monty
Crew in Times Square?
