Long story short - The House and Senate have passed the Passenger Protection Act - Governor Cooper hasn't signed it yet, but considering this was passed in both houses with no "Nays" likely means it's a fait accompli. The law:
- Requires us to display the license plate number of our vehicle in a location that is visible from the front of the vehicle at all times we're driving rideshare and it must be "in a legible and contrasting font no smaller than three inches in height" although it doesn't have to be permanently affixed
- Display a lit sign with the company name and logo we're operating for
- Makes impersonating a rideshare driver a crime (a Class H felony (punishable by 4-25 months in prison, equivalent to First Degree Forgery) if it's during the commission of another crime, otherwise it's a Class 2 misdemeanor (up to 60 days in prison and a $1,000 fine, equivalent to carrying a gun without a permit)
