Anyone only drive Lyft down here? I’ve been driving just for Lyft the past few weeks and it seems atrocious compared to Uber. Maybe I’m hitting the wrong areas but sheesh. How do they maintain enough drivers?(because they have suckers like me amirite) Seems like a major discrepancy between the two and there can’t be THAT many ppl who are limited to just Lyft.

I usually drive in Fort Lauderdale and up, I was thinking I might be better going more south because it looks busier(more bonuses?) on the map but then I’ll get down there and do an F’n 50 minute 4.2 mile trip for less than minimum wage. I have talked to some drivers who tell me that they prefer Lyft, and I can’t wrap my head around it

I quit using Lyft over a year ago, got tired of the pings for pick-up over 20 miles away. Sure Lyft I want to drive 20 miles unpaid to pick up a rider and take them to Walmart a mile away for $2.50. I'll pass. Considered trying to get my Lyft account back online to see if things changed, Just can't get myself to do it.

stupidly I fell for lyft's "guarantee" trap (different from a ride challenge) when i expected a bonus of $105 for completing a bunch of rides but only was guaranteed to make $105...also riders are able to change destination even when you have destination filters set. I think the deductible on Uber is much lower if I'm not mistaken. uber is much better here

$2000 on lyft, $1000 deductible on uber, unless you drive a lot and have diamond level rewards thanks to the amazing uber pro points rewards program, your deductible is still $1000

Before COVID I did only Lyft. Then I switched to DoorDash. And love it.

after about a year Lyft started sending me offers to drive and finally when I got. $200 bonus for 15 rides I did it. I did 3 or a day and all on DF. Made about $90 withtips on 15 short rides and got my $200 bonus on top. After that Lyft never sent me another bonus. Nothing but earning guarantees and streaks. Result is I almost never accept a ride

but this Monday about 840 am after declining 25 requests Lyft sent a ppz bonus of $12. Turned out to an airport ride that paid 15 plus the $12. Then no more ppz.

Lyft sux and does everything possible to trick drivers into guarantees and streaks. But no. Last few days requests are plentiful but I haven’t gotten a good bonus so never accepted any.

I notice in the rider app Lyft has two prices for Lyft rides. Example $25 to FLL with pickup in 5 minutes or $20with pickup in 15 minutes. My guessis most people pick the least expensive and Lyft just stacks the ride on another driver.

IMHO I being these companies expect drivers to return after the Checks run out but I believe a lot of drivers won’t. I could write a long list of advantages with food over people. But bottom line I live by Oakland park blvd: 5 miles north is Atlantic, to south SE 17 and to the west powerline. That’s my zone and I don’t accept anything outside that box and I can earn 1000 a week in season and 700 now in a 40 to 50 hours week. dollars per mile. Dollars per gallon. Dollars per hour are all better for me on food. Why would I accept a no bonus request when I have no idea where it’s going or how much it pays?

Thanks for the info but what would your pay be per hour after figuring in wearing out your vehicle plus gas?

It might be best for Drivers to find a job that pays $20 an hour if possible. My friend is a waiter and he makes that much in cash.

This is week number 3 for me with Lyft.
Week 1 had a bonus and guarantee that let me gross 34/hr

week 2 had no guarantees or bonuses but had streaks 25.5/hr gross

week 3 has been straight rate card for 17/hr gross which I’m estimating comes out to 11 bucks an hour. Imagine sitting in Miami traffic for F’n 11 bucks

plus side is I’m closing in on becoming Gold! 🤑🤑🤑

Yes Lyft thinks you’re a sucker because week 3 you drive at regular rates and see how it truly sux. No bonus no drive.

It's only a matter of time when pool and shared comes back. Also they will add seats to all cars from 3 seats to 4 seats for x, 5 seats to 6 seats for xl

A lot of x riders will switch to pool/shared

A lot of xl riders will switch to X

And less people will order premier cause its no longer the cheapest option when it surges

Prepare for the kick in the nutz

The app was motivating me to get gold status by showing that all I need is points as my “driving score” was 91%(80% required)

As soon as I hit the 900 points needed, my driving score shot down to 71%, so all I need to do is bang out 1000 more rides without declining a single one🥳

Ok I was wrong on the hours. Including some down time definitely no more than 28. Now my hourly is over $30. Better yet and only do them when there’s good offers.

I appreciate the advice on a job but really don’t want to be tied down. I been doing DoorDash quite a while and even bad days I get $15 hour Good days 20 to $25.

I had not driven for a year. But recently it seems one week a month Lyft sends streaks and bonuses and then I drive. But no bonus no streaks no drive.

I’m not say I did great last week. It was ok.

but look at the screenshot. Take away all the bonus and the base earning plain suxx

I quit driving March 29 of 2020 and sold my van. Looking to do something else maybe. My friend makes $200 a day delivering food. My car qualifies for Uberx but pay sucks and u wear out your vehicle. The best way to do it is like a member here has a Prius and took every trip for 10 hours and made money. He may have quit also. Drivers need to find their niche and know true expenses. BTW, I live off Commercial Blvd so we live close.

I agree that most drivers don’t understand true expenses until they have an accident or major repairs.

Try food. Read my other posts why I prefer food over RS. When I wait for food I chat with other drivers and many UE guys do $200 a day. I ask the other drivers if do RS and 95% say no. Only food.

Uber Lyft days of 90% turnover can’t last forever. Right now they are throwing a few cookies at drivers. Be interesting to see what happens going forward.
