Whenever I start the Lyft app - and only the Lyft app is causing this problem - my phone loses connection to cellular data.?If I stop the app and go in and out of airplane mode, the connection resets, but restarting the app just kills it again. Anyone ever have a problem like this? On an iPhone 13 Mini running the latest iOS & Lyft app versions. Updated, reset, Apple & Carrier diagnostics, new SIM, full wipe and restore from backup. Phones runs fine as long as I don't open Lyft.

One thing the Lyft app was doing last time I checked was downloading an inordinate amount of data. If that is what's happening in your case, your connection may not have the bandwidth to accommodate. In other words the demand is exposing a weak link.

Keep an eye on how much data the Lyft app is using when you have a solid connection.... say via wifi.

What type of phone is it, as in 3G, 4G, 5G?

EDIT: I am not an Apple guy, but if you have a 13 it is likely 5G. Correct? The roll out of 5G is still new, and if the 5G network in your locale is not stable that could be the issue. See if you can disable 5G and let the phone fall back to 4G. If you can't disable 5G then try another phone that is 4G. You have to mix things up until you narrow down the weak link.

In fact.....
.
I'll check the data usage, that's a good point. I'm up in Cleveland, and 5g is pretty good, but it can be spotty as you make your way back and forth across town, so I usually keep it set to LTE only.

Yep as of July 18, 2022 this has been happening. Lyft express tried to say it was my iphone11 (I’ve been using for the past year) or the carrier, cricket. which I’ve been using the past 4yrs with Lyft. Phone works great until i fire up the lyft app. I hope I can at least pay for this fukin rental. Anybody find a fix?!?
I have no explanation for why it's happening, or exactly what is happening, but the few cases where this was reported all mentioned Cricket - so I switched carriers. Lyft runs without issue now on the same phone I was using when I made the initial post in this thread.

I'm guessing that the app design and Cricket's throttling might be the culprit. You know how all their plans say stuff about streaming being limited to a certain resolution? Anyway, Cricket was the common denominator in all the threads I read; got rid of it, works fine now.

Lyft has ALWAYS had crappy gps on att...
my navigational software (waze) never drops
but Lyft gets lost all the time....
Can't speak to that; my AT&T + Lyft works ok in my city. The issue I referenced in the OP was that starting the Lyft app COMPLETELY killed my data connection - like, no connectivity for any app until killing Lyft and resetting with Airplane Mode.
