I tried that after it was posted here you coukd do that but wasn't able to. Maybe it's only certain markets? I'm in houston. Is everyone in LA able to do this?
Just checked it

New surge/select/etc noshowing procedure:

1) wait 5 mins
2) START trip
3) if destination delicious, try to track down pax
4) otherwise immediate cancel noshow (still possible! still pays!!!)

5) email CSR, ask them to reactivate your account

Uber does not have the power to ban users. Their is no true identity of pax. They can make another email, another nick name, another credit card.
But they can't use the same phone number and not a lot of people would go out of their way and change their number for uber.

Made some pretty good money last night, mostly on long trips, and was passing by USC about midnight (I know, I know). Fell for the Uber bait of getting 15 rides for the extra $35 (used Destination Filter earlier in the night, and those trips do not count - as well as Lyft for a couple trips).

Anyway, as I'm turning onto Figueroa, Vanessa pings me. Then she calls me in the first minute and says, Hey, you just drove right past us. I look down at my Navigation and I'm still a block away (maybe bad pin-drop). What street are you on? I ask...someone standing close to her tells her and Vanessa retorts, We are on 32nd street, you should know, you just drove past us! I respond, Well, I'm on Figueroa just getting ready to turn onto 32nd, so that was not me.

By now, I already know this trip is not happening. The only thing I need to figure out is how I get Vanessa to cancel it...

I did, and she did, and we both lived happily ever after.

I think maybe this is why I have not yet had to tell a passenger GTFO...Or, just dumb luck.

What some of you think "tolerant", others call "complacent"

Or worse...

PS but most importantly it sends the wrong message from us collectively. MAXIMIZE your kickouts. Kick out ANYBODY who gives you the faintest trace of a good-faith reason to curb em. Retake the bridge, be the lone and sole authority in charge of your own car. TRAIN EM TO UNDERSTAND. Make them ACCEPT IT, automatically, as an unarguable fact...

Instead of this "oh but my other uber driver..."
Should see what maritime admiralty law really has to say about the operator of a commercial vehicle. It's like pirates on the high seas. If you don't like it walk the plank! Dead men tell no tales.

My point is that you cannot be banned from Uber. Uber does not have true identity. If you want to, you can get a new phone number.

So it's pretty funny when you hear of an attack on a driver and Uber makes a statement that they are banned from the platform. Uber does not even know who they are banning.

That's funny you say that now because the first time you mentioned picking up the pax was contingent on having a "delicious" destination
NO.

If theyre LATE, cancel thru start trip instead of directly

...who knows, maybe that 5x surge noshow is running late packing his bag for Vegas, or going to within a mile of your place

Check if they mightbe worth TRYING to pick up before pressing noshow

I see. I didn't put the 5 minute wait with the try to track down pax in the proper context. My mistake

This morning I lost my virginity in kicking out a pax.

Had a stacked X request to 2917 W sunset Blvd to a pax by the name "this.shot.50" or something along those lines (I'm putting him on blast because I want you guys to avoid him). That should have been a red flag but pickins are slim and I couldn't pass up on a boost fare.

So after I arrived I parked right next to the pin and a chubby bald Mexican guy got in the rear passenger side. Right after he got in, he said I'm at the wrong address and I made him walk in the rain to get to me. Mind you he was coming from a shopping plaza with like 20 stores and I'm parked in front of them on sunset next to the pin. Then he went on about how all uber drivers get it wrong all the time and how unprofessional we are. My instinct was telling me to cancel right then and there but I wanted to be the bigger man.

I started the trip and he was heading towards Hollywood. He then tells me to go east on sunset the opposite direction (another red flag). While I'm driving he still went on about how none of us uber drivers are fit to drive unlike taxi drivers who have to pass tests to get their licences. So I told him he should have ordered a taxi and he should stop complaining because "you get what you pay for". I also told him that he should not expect limo style service while paying pennies for uber.

Then he started directing his insults directly at me. So I told him to stop insulting me, then he told me something along the lines of "to shut up and drive". I'm a patient driver (never kicked a pax out before) but this guy tested my patient like no other pax ever before. So I parked my car into a random lot and told him to "Get the f.. out of my car". At this point I thought I was going to get punched or stabbed. Because he looked like one of those "cholo" guys and mentally unstable. Thankfully he exited my car without drama and he started recording me while I drove away. Before ending the trip I peeked at his rating and he got a 4.3 (god knows how he managed to maintain such a rating).

Reported him to uber to ban him (hopefully). Also noticed my rating dropped.
Uber will not ban him.
Lesson learned, DO NOT PICK UP ANYONE WITH LESS THAN 4.6.
