Interesting round trip

I was driving my usual Saturday night bar circuit. It was surge time but still nothing on the heat map. Got a pickup shortly before closing time, turned out destination was 35. miles out into the barren burbs. 41 minute estimate, so no long pickup warning. There goes my night.

2 minutes from destination, the guy realizes he left his keys at the pickup spot. So this deadmile return trip turned into a paid round trip. The guy remained pretty good natured, was a friendly ride both ways, and even gave a $13 tip. Total $90 for an 80 minute 70 mile ride. The unfortunate pax paid $136 for a useless round trip.

You just never know in this game.

Yes. He'd made other arrangements by the time I dropped him at his final destination / starting point, but the poor fella paid over $130 for a useless round trip.
If he was well and truly stuck I might have had a little sympathy and delivered him once more, but it didn't come to that. For which I was glad, cause it was past 2am by that point and I wasn't really up for it.

Picked up a guy in the deep SW of our city for an early AM airport run. 40 KM later his phone rings on the airport access road. I can hear his wife on the phone "Honey, you left your passport on the kitchen island"..........

Made roughly $90 including tip, in about 90 minutes that day, then got "put on ice" by the algo for about 2 hours, because I had made too much too fast.

I had a couple that I picked up in Park city, that accidentally took the rental car key FOB with them to the airport, the car was still in Park city. They paid me $100 cash to take the car FOB back up to Park city, turned off the app and headed back up the mountain….got there, delivered the car FOB and got another $20 cash tip from the lady I delivered it to. $160 for about 70 minutes of driving… wish I could get those everyday.

I have done several trips where I pick someone up at a marina, take them home 50-90 miles away, and bring them back to the marina. So many people have a little too much to drink and dropped their car/truck keys overboard at the dock. They sober up in the couple hours they wasted trying to fish them out. I'll do those round trips all day long.
