A friend called me this morning.

He was very concerned that despite him having 9 years of no claims bonus and him paying around £900 for private hire insurance last year. He is being quoted around £1600 by Zego which is one of the approved Uber Insurer. He's being quoted about £1100 for renewal by his current company.

This is just pathetic that we have to buy insurance from one of the approved Uber Insurers who they probably share all our driving and incoming data with.

What can be done about this? Or will drivers now let Uber dictate which tyres we can buy, from where we can service our car from, MOT garages ?

Please advise if you've experience of this new BS.

I mean your friend's quite lucky with his quote tbh. Mine was £3900 cheapest off "approved list" (zego) and £1400 else where. Absolute fn robbery! £2500 extra for the privilege of working for Uber. That's like nearly a month of your average work "clean". Add taxes, running costs, maintenance etc... Literally less than half of money you make ends up in your pocket. Isn't this a modern day slavery indeed?
