So, I used to drive back when Uber (and Lyft) was first allowed to PICKUP from the airports. I stopped driving when they stopped the surge multipliers (1.6x fares) and started the surge model where they add a dollar or two.
I never cared for Uber pro or whatever because I didn’t wanna be forced to accept crappy rides* or not be able to cancel on other crappy rides* either.
so yeah, I had a lower acceptance rate and a higher cancellation rate. Didn’t care because I was making decent money and didn’t have to take airport rides from downtown. Basically, if I pull up at 5pm and you’re in the loop and have luggage with you, I’m not even stopping. Sorry. I don’t mess with airport rides. Or staging at airports either! No way.
what I wanna know is how are things different? I bet the money isn’t as good as it was when it was the surge multiplier, but what are the new tools or features for drivers? Destination filters were used heavily. Short rides were my favorite. Hate mornings so evening rushes till late night were my favorite shifts.
have customers gotten better at tips?
any help, advice, or other cool suggestions would be great.
*crappy rides: rides I don’t wanna take. Simple. Like, to the airport or way out to a distant town. I know you shouldn’t refuse rides, but eh. Like cash money said, “Money is the motive, eff with the money it get ugly as coyote.” 🤪
oh! One more thing! What’s the avg amount people are paying to go to airports from downtown?
