Screenshots tell the story. XL ride.
$19.54 - Uber / $17.83 - driver.
Guess they are gonna become profitable after all...
Uber support was no help, they won't adjust the surge.

If our compensation was still commission-based I'd say you have a legitimate complaint, but as everyone knows, since July 2017, our compensation is paid via a set rate per minute and per mile.

In fact, because our compensation is no longer based on a commissioned fare, I expect before too much longer that Uber/Lyft will no longer provide customer payment information to us at all. I'm actually surprised this hasn't already occurred. Since our compensation is no longer related in any way to the fare charged to the customer we have no enforcable right to that information.

Uber/Lyft both know this. Anymore, I think they give it to us just to rub our noses in it, daring us to try and do something about it.

I believe they have to make it available to us because both Uber/Lyft and the pax are both considered our customers under the tos, if I am remembering correctly. @SuzeCB would probably know better though.

Your calculation of what you got paid is correct. Why do drivers keep looking at what the customer paid. You get paid time + distance x rate. Always 100% correct. The app will also tell you if you are going to receive surge.

What happens in this case is Uber will take its normal 20-25% of the fare. The remainder of the money is pooled and given to other riders that participated in that surge. You are angry because you didn't get the money. Uber is showing you with the rider paid to be transparent but then the drivers get irate when things work against them.

Do you get irate when the rider pays $15 and uber pays you $18? It works both ways people!!!. At the end of the year...look at your 1099...it will show you the total paid to Uber and then your cut. I guarantee you that it will be close to your 20-25-27% takeout rate.

Quit complaining...drive...or just quit driving. JEZUS cripes. If you think you are unfairly paid...then just quit.

What about the tips you make...cash..unreported? What about the rides you do for cash...unreported? Awww....Uber gets nothing on your cash rides or negotiated rides. What about all the incentive money you make...when you signup another driver...when you get a streak bonus...etc etc. What about the discounts Uber sends to the passenger as an incentive to ride with UBer? They don't dock you because the rider gets a freebie.

Joe, my point is, I'm tired of doing it with what Uber deems is bare minimum information I need. I'd like clarity, for example, on what is the significant portion of surge that is supposed to go to the driver. What happened to that?

We are paying Uber for their service (technology), not the other way around. But we don't have a say in what our rates are and we're supposed to be obedient sheep be it their will.

They have all the data and yet they still can't turn a profit. So I'm gonna watch out for my bottom line and do everything I can to improve it.

If you're worried about commission, find a job that pays you for commission.

You accept a trip, you see the destination. You know how many miles away it is, and the eta. You know exactly how much you're gonna get paid.

If you choose to accept and complete the trip, thats on you. Stop crying about what pax paid

So are those official numbers?
Do you have a source by any chance?

Where do you see on the app what the destination is before you pickup the pax?

Nobody's crying. Just trying to bring some clarity into driver's earnings and maybe educate those considering taking up this trade.
