My rating after 7 trips is like 60 percent. Do I need to drive faster? Talk more? Stick to exact directions from the phone and not take a different road? Talk less? I must have done something wrong that made me get low marks. Any advice???

Definitely stick to main routes. But don't worry. Eventually ratings even out. You have to be doing something really wrong to end up with a bad rating. When you're new it's no big deal.

Ratings im sure makes somewhat of a difference in riders determining which driver to choose from. But then again, there are so many riders , some1 will give u another chance

My rating was 4.7 n got it to 4.9 in about a month and a half

Only about half the passengers end up rating the driver. The more you do it the better you will get at determining who wants a quiet ride and who wants to chat. Those people with a customer service background definitely have a easier time initially.

Riders don't choose a driver. Sure, they can take a look at what they got and cancel the ride with that driver if they don't like the rating, the car, the look of the driver, whatever. They don't get a list of drivers in the area and choose one, however. And anytime that they cancel the driver that they are given, they risk having to wait longer for another driver. Especially if their own rating isn't all that great.

Have you taken the 7 trips in the last 7 days, or spread out over more than one week?

The 60% acceptance rate you see is based on the last 7 days. With only 7 trips, low acceptance rates can affect your overall rating with uber.

Save one of your destination filters and use it when you are on the freeway going home. Make sure you are ready to take the trip or go off line.

When your pax sits in the front seat, it is chat time. Backseat? Depends, but you can easily tell if they want to talk or be left alone.

Drive faster? That depends on your market. I work rush hour where it is a gridlock, I take short cuts through alleys and parking lots...I make sure I tell them what I am about to do and how it will save us 5 to 10 minutes. I safely switch lane if I see the next one can save me 10 cars length. I get paid by the mile, sitting in traffic is not my cup of tea. it is a surge fare, I need to drop off & take another one...I don't drive like crazy but I don't just sit in traffic = passengers love that shit, put yourself in their shoes.

Drive safe, keep your car clean, get familiar with your city if you are not. Pax expect that.

My rating dropped to 4.73 in my first month with uber. Freaked me out, the algorythm can be ruthless, too many "if statements" in the code that can conflict with newer drivers, then gets them deactivated at 4.6.

Uber ratings are based on last 500 trips, the more trips you have the more lenient the algorythm becomes.

I have about 3000 trips, my rating has been sitting at 4.89 for almost 6 months. It switches from 4.89 to 4.9 even to 4.92 but mostly 4.89 the whole time.

I hope that answers your question. Best of luck.

I stopped caring when I realized that you just can't let this job be your everything. Ride share driving can be good, and it can suck. Most passengers don't bother to rate you, they get out and go about their day or night. I've had crazy people in my car, I've had weird people in my car. Sometimes they get in and don't talk and stay on their phone, sometimes they think you're an idiot and need step by step directions. Just drive and do it as best as you can, don't worry about what your passenger thinks.

I agree. If you have more than 500 trips & good rating you should not worry, usually a bad rating here, a bad rating there does not really affect your overall rating.

However, if you are new, like the driver who started this thread, you should defenitely pay close attention to your rating untill you are out of the woods...
