Hey everyone,
I’m an Uber driver, and I’m currently looking to buy a used car to replace my current one that’s getting up there in miles. I’ve been checking out some cars, but I’m a bit nervous about odometer fraud. I drive a lot for work, so I really need a car that’s going to last, and I don’t want to end up with a car that’s had its mileage rolled back or something sketchy like that.
I’ve heard you can use the VIN to check the mileage history, but I’m not sure what sites are trustworthy. Do any of you have recommendations on how to double-check the odometer reading, or should I be looking for other signs that the car’s been tampered with? I know the last thing I want is to buy a car that looks like it has fewer miles but has actually been used a lot more.
Also, since I’m going to be putting a ton of miles on the car once I start driving it for Uber, should I be asking for any specific maintenance records? I’ve heard that a well-maintained car can last a lot longer, and I just want to make sure I’m not jumping into something that’ll give me problems in the future.
Any advice or tips would be really helpful. I’m trying to make a solid choice here, so if you’ve got any experience buying a car for Uber or checking mileage before making the purchase, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
