My dearly departed mother was enlisted Navy during the Korean war, stationed here at NTC in Point Loma. I don't think that would qualify me for USAA but I am going to check it out. Our family never used any of the services offered by the Navy and my dad was a really smart cat and would have jumped on it if it was available and a good deal. Brings up at least checking it out!

Finally got around to logging into the State Farm site and poking around.

I noticed that under endorsements it says "EXCESS COVERAGE FOR PERSONAL VEHICLE SHARING" and dove a little deeper into the paperwork.

Excess means exactly what it sounds like, SF covers any loss or liability that isn't covered by Lyft/Uber. However, what I'm not clear on is if A) The SF deductible still applies for the 'excess' and B) If the SF policy will cover the deductible for the policies provided by Uber/Lyft.

For example. On Lyft the insurance policy has a 2500 deductible for property damage. If I have a 500 deductible from SF, does that mean that SF will cover 2000 of the 2500 and I'm only out the 500?
I talked to my State Farm guy (the forum sponsor) and he said that the policy takes the place of the uber and lyft deductibles. You dont even use uber/lyft. You call State Farm and they handle the whole thing.

That was what I thought too. But the booklet on the Rideshare endorsement says otherwise. There has to be a reason why the coverages is listed as 'excess'

It clearly states that all other sources of coverage must be exhausted before the SF coverage applies. Since Lyft and Uber provide insurance it sounds like we must start there first.

EDIT
[Attached Photo deleted; had policy no on it]

That says 2013... I thought this was a new thing for State Farm?

Now that you mention it, I'm thinking this endorsement isn't the TNC coverage. In which case I need to touch base with SF to make sure the TNC coverage is listed on my policy. I believe this "Car sharing" is more akin to sharing your car with others vs livery-type services.

Do you have a policy with SF? What do you show as your endorsements online?

All I have is:

6126MD

EXCESS COVERAGE FOR PERSONAL VEHICLE SHARING

6128AC

AMENDATORY ENDORSEMENT

I'd find a new agent. Call John or Kyle. They sponsor this page and seem to know their stuff.
May be an underwriting problem, or the agent just didn't know. I was legitimately probably the first TNC (well, I guess not) policy they ATTEMPTED to sell.

In my tenure in IT my mistakes have taken down entire companies for brief periods. I suffered no consequence as a result of this mistake so I'll give them the opp. to fix it.

Spoke to State Farm again. The agent that bound my insurance assured me that the 4015 a endorsement was in the policy the day I bought it. However, it was underwriting that issued the policy without it. They're having underwriting issue me a new declarations and updated web profile when complete.

Glad to hear you clarified the situation.

New issue. Got my new declarations with 4015A Endorsement, woo! However, there's now a 6 month premium change for $130. So, not sure if this wasn't quoted properly or underwriting screwed the pooch again or what.

Agent researching. I'm thinking the right thing for SF to do is to eat the net premium change if one is actually applicable.

I can't imagine how smooth all the other TNC sales are going to go at this office after dealing with me! =D

Resolved. Underwriting's mistake caused my 1st declarations page to show an amount lower than what I was quoted. The updated declaration page shows an accurate reflection of premiums.

Seems the agent sold it all correctly, but underwriting pooched it. Including giving me a 'discount' on my policy.
