Total 63 miles (4 trips, "one way" ) x 2 (round trip) = 126 miles

Compensation after (20% Lyft fee) = $69.60

Direct car expenses 126 miles (calculation done w round trip assumption) x $0.44/miles (Nissan Note base 15k per year) = $55.44

Profit before taxes $69.60 - $54.44 = $15.16 (1.5 hrs x2 = 3 hours (round trip)) ….

$15.16 / 3 hours =

Driver compensation: $5.05 / hour before taxes

P.S. No tips...coupon rides...I am guessing

Alex,

Why are you deadheading every mile back?
Some of those have to go somewhere where you could get another fare, no?

Lastly, Lyft does accept people adding a gratuity on their Promo 1st Fare, but just to a certain percentage. Most customers don't know that though.

They are changing that. Soon tips on free rides won't be limited, but all tips will be charged to the customer's card and not come out of the credit. People with the iPhone beta and new tip workflow pointed that out and the product manager confirmed.

.44 per mile seems very high. You may need to switch to a more economical / cost efficient vehicle.
