thanks everyone. Are boost zones often in different neighborhoods than where it's surging, as OGT suggests above? Do poor nonwhite neighborhoods surge more whereas wealthier whiter areas boost more?
I don't think it makes much difference as far as demographics of the neighborhood. My least favorite unsafe Philadelphia neighborhood, centered around 23rd and Ridge, is always in the fairmount boost zone for Uber.
The poorer nonwhite areas of the city surge more often, especially with lyft. I think it's a combo of drivers avoiding those areas and anting out in boost zones chasing the sure thing. Lyft is also way more popular in those neighborhoods.
Most of us prefer longer rides and not many come out of the hood. Most of us also HATE pool, and that's what all the hood riders request. For those of us who drive XL, we also get uhaul requests, and most annoying of all - laundromat runs. Im not beat putting trash bags full of pissy drawers in my van for a 1/4 mile ride down the street that takes 20 minutes and pays $5. No need to tip either
