Did anyone else just get a “Driving mode changed to ‘standard’” message?

It came up then disappeared before I could even click on “more.” And I don’t see an option anywhere to even see if an alternative is available.

lol I just opened mine it says Driving mode changed to:
Advantage
You're getting more exclusive trip requests and a 5% Advantage bonus on select trips.

I don't even drive much due to low low pay only trips home when out on a job.
I clicked learn more goes nowhere.

Most of my requests were already coming in as Radar. Guess they’re just making things official now. 🙄

Probably some sort of acceptance rate BS, or a psych op of sorts.

Could be since I do accept most rides as long as they go in my direct route which is not near the city.

Well I been saying for long time pay drivers more for having higher acceptance rate, maybe they are seeing the light but doubt it as I am sure they take it off the top first then say you got 5% more. The new trick.

I've never seen a message like this before.

But I keep getting trips that say "Exclusive" on them. Maybe I am an "Exclusive" member due to having a 95%+ acceptance rate.

My accept rate is high because I actually generally get good requests through Uber. My Lyft acceptance rate is much lower, more like 15%.

“Exclusive” just means the trip is being offered to you only and not other drivers on Trip Radar. What I’m seeing in both of my markets is more and more rides offered only on Trip Radar which means they’re blasting out ride requests to multiple drivers and awarding the trip to the driver who accepts the ride at the lowest price offered. It’s possible that they’re testing “Advantage” mode in certain markets that offer a bonus tied to certain conditions such as maintaining a super high acceptance rate but this just feels more like a further race to the bottom.

Yes I just took the very same screenshot as you from my app. And it only gives a split second to try to click on - learn more .for the last year or so I’ve been extreme cherry picking with acceptance rating consistently 10% or lower. So haven’t having a chance yet to- learn more I’m guessing it’s some of outright penalty for my cherry picking only rides that pay out MORE than a dollar a mile ( including to pickup distance) or some way nudge me into lower paying trips per mileage. Which are we surprised that Uber would start to penalize cherry picking?

I wonder why these companies don’t just make a simple general statement….something like:

“The number of offers you get, and the amount offered is a function of:

1. Your customer rating
2. Your AR
3. Your CR
4. Your timeliness - both arriving and completing trips
5. (And any other metrics they might keep)

Maybe they’re already doing it this way. Wiith up front pricing, they have unlimited control, which they can manipulate at any time.

If they do start blatantly penalizing (lowering rates) for low AR, it could be the beginning of the end for me, at least for Uber

Currently in my market, Lyft is paying much better than Uber, so the majority of my driving is for Lyft anyway. But if history is any guide, Lyft will follow suit, so I may be totally done.

The new emails also spells out crap.

Introducing Advantage Mode and Standard Mode
When you’re in Advantage Mode, you’ll receive more exclusive ride requests² sent directly to you, and you’ll earn 5% more on UberX and other non-premium ride types than you would in Standard Mode.³

To be eligible for Advantage Mode when this pilot begins, you will need an:
  • Acceptance rate of 25% or more
  • Cancellation rate of 8% or less
  • Star rating of at least 4.85

Beginning September 2, you will also need a CMT (Cambridge Mobile Telematics) driving score of 75 or more. See below for more information about the new CMT driving score.

Each day, these criteria will be checked by 5 am local time to determine your eligibility for Advantage Mode for that day.⁴ If you don't meet the requirements that day, you’ll be in Standard Mode, where more of your ride requests will come through Trip Radar and you won’t earn the 5% Advantage Mode perk on eligible rides.

LOL
On July 8, the acceptance and cancellation rate lookback period will be based on your last 100 trip requests, refreshing more often to reflect more recent trip requests. This update can help you reach Advantage Mode faster if you don’t currently meet all the above criteria.

As a reminder, this lookback period update may impact your eligibility for Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Uber Pro, but we’ll make sure that any changes in your acceptance or cancellation rates resulting from the new lookback period won’t affect your current Uber Pro status until 7/31/24.⁵
Introducing Driving Insights
Powered by Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT), experts in safe driving analytics, the new Driving Insights dashboard provides you with useful information about your driving, including an overall score and how it compares to other drivers in your area. This information can help identify areas in which you may want to improve your driving. When Driving Insights launches in mid-July, you’ll be able to view your dashboard in the Safety Hub by tapping the blue shield on the home screen of your Driver app.

Starting September 2, you will need to maintain a CMT driving score of 75 or more in order to be eligible for Advantage Mode.

I don't for sure I get the pay on drive home which in most cases over a dollar a mile.

The Rideshare Guy did an episode, on this, on their Youtube channel. Appearently, if you have a high acceptance rate and a low cancelation rate, you get advantage requests, which is suppossed to give you more quality rides. In Standard, you get mostly really bad radar requests. REGARDLES, no matter how you work the system, you will be operating at a loss. That is the Uber and Lyft bussines model.

The idea that we're actually independent contractors has been bullshit from the very start, as we do not set our own rates. The only way we have to express our independence is choosing to log on/log off and accept/decline a ride. It's only natural that these corporate rapists are now chipping away at the only freedoms remaining to us.

You can list all the examples you want and you'll still be full of it with your "every job in the world" claim.

I've worked at jobs that DIDN'T pay extra for seniority or anything else. Every one of the pizza shops I drove for paid every driver the same regardless of seniority or anything else. I discovered that a retail clothing company I worked for paid some new workers as much as or more than veteran workers due to sharp increases in starting pay rates. I worked at a warehouse that had pay scales that resulted in parity among workers.

You're flatout wrong and stubborn.
You do seem to work at jobs that pay poorly, and that is fine so long as you realize this is a choice you are making.
You are a natural Uber worker. By continuing to work for them you are condoning and supporting their business model.
Congratulations. They need people like you to keep their business profitable. Keep up the good work.

I enjoyed the gig a little. I live in Miami so getting out there in the scooter is always fun, a lot easier than a car. Sadly, there are way too many UNDOCUMENTED PEOPLE, renting accounts from GOD knows where, accepting any bull crap Uber sends. 3$ for 7 or 8 miles. So many of them don't even have homes. They sleep in groups, on the streets just waiting for that 30 mile, 10$ pay. They don't pay rent, their scooters are paid, so they will take $3 for 8 miles all day. When uber started testing who would do these horrible trips for free, they staed to mess with the whole system. So those who bought cars, to do Uber passengers or Uber eats, are loosing their vehicles. The amount of entire homeless families living everywhere is hidden to tourist. Miami is not what many think. People, Uber is an illegal operation. And those tenting their accounts to the undocumented, some have been caught, arrested and charged with fraud...organized fraud. I'm happy for that.
