About 18 months ago I Was seriously thinking of buying an Audi A8L or a Merc S Class. Wanted to buy a 1 year old with low mileage from main dealer.

I had started to approach ph firms looking to see what work they could pass my way, and it wasn't looking too promising back then.

Audi on Slough Trading Estate were pretty helpful, then went along to Mercedes on Bath Road, Slough and the snotty bird-brained salesman didn't seem to take me seriously that I would like to do a cash deal (Bank transfer), because I was in casual clothes.
He wouldn't let me sit in an S Class that was sitting in the showroom, saying it was locked????

As if I would spend a shed load of money without sitting in the car and arranging a lengthy test drive

Now the silly tarts at Merc, Slough keep sending me invites for "platinum events" and the like, straight into the bin.

Thankfully I didn't pursue the idea after talking to a few chauffeur drivers who told me how things had deteriorated since I had left England in 2008.

When I first started looking into the idea, one chauffeur leasing a new Audi A8L was boasting about his earnings with the Arabs, now Mr Big Earner is being made bankrupt

Hog, I know a guy, kind of a friend, who was on S class for last 8yrs and I saw him now in 10reg E class.
I've asked what's wrong, he replied that he's just working for a car, expences, lease,......

He gave up.

Reason!!!

Young Arabs r not like old ones. They have mainly UK education and culture on non-tipping, also being loaded that "gives them right" to be rude.

Now even in Sheraton, Mandarin or Jumeirah concierge don't give a flying f'**uck about them any more.

Dorchester is another league thou.

Yeah there's quite a few young Arabs studying at Brunel and they stay at the nice apartments down by Willowbank estate in new Denham

They take regular trips to Knightsbridge and Mayfair but I don't take them if I can help it.
Rather do a couple of £10 locals then £25 to W1

Nice to drive an S Class or A8L, makes one's driving job a bit more enjoyable but looks like the quality work and good rates are diminishing now

Funnily enough I always preferred American cars to German cars. Had Cadillacs from 50's thru 80's, Buick, Studebaker and GMC Suv, Caddies Rule!

True. I prefer tourist season, Apr-Oct, u get happy ppl in ur car, u get tips, u get some private tours if lucky,....

And my favourite, but hard to get it is Chrysler 300C, 300D, 300E or F....

If u remember 'Crime Stories' and Mike Torello....

For the younger blokes, these r '57, '58, '59 and '60 models.....
