Am reading this book and I stopped to wonder if our lives has been influenced by being rideshare drivers .. what I mean is that , An assertive person can't be assertive while driving Uber because let's all be honest , no driver wants to be 1 star-ed . Have driving Uber/ lyft placed a leash on our Character and who we truly are? Because if you be yourself you can receive a 1 star or worst yet lose your job. What really bothers me is, have this character change transferred to other areas of our lives? Because so many drivers have been tamed by Uber ( for fear of being reported by a passenger and losing it all) , have that fear transferred into marriages , or other areas of our lives? ... because we have allowed passengers to control us , are we being controlled subconsciously outside of work also? Am just curious for honest answers.

It's the same as any other job where you have to deal with scumbags and at the same time try not to do anything that will get you fired. But with uber at least you can kick out the animals from your car. It is better to keep work separate from everyday life as with all jobs. At the same time you are walking down the street and someone wants to start a fight with me I am going to defend myself regardless of whatever job I have.

I noticed alot of tlc drivers have turned into aggressive scumbags towards other drivers, if they were not already scumbags before becoming drivers. They want everyone out of the way and act like they own the roads and even the oil change place I recently noticed so they can go ahead and hog all the rides. If you think you are not making enough money and trying to force the issue by being rude towards other people then this job is not for you.

Not just Uber, even on yellow most drivers live in fear. Fear of TLC, fear of an unruly passenger, fear of getting into an accident. With Uber it's actually worse, since now you have a fear of getting deactivated or one starred. This job really fks you up psychologically. A W2 is a lot better when it comes to your mental health.

Have Uber and Lyft affected your manhood and character?
Yes since driving my manhood has been getting shorter and I seem to have mood swings and generally grumpy behavior once a month near the full moon.

I also have been attending dike bars quite a bit and keep getting dirty looks when I sit on their fur lined love couch with heart shaped pillows. 😆

I’ve noticed I’m less prone to jumping to conclusions and overreacting. If something is done in my rideshare that pisses me off I’ve learnt to wait and ask questions and suss out what is happening before yelling at them, usually it a misunderstanding or brain fart moment. Sometimes people are just being disgusting tho and I need to put my foot down, but having that clarity from assessing the situation better really helps me navigate the gross and disrespectful riders better.

Which reminds me whenever I see a passenger picking their nose and playing with their booger then flinging it somewhere I give them a one star, especially the males. I notice some of them do that in the back seat from my dash cam videos but I don't catch them during the ride as it's hard to see what they are doing, only the ones that sit in the front seat.

Did you see the movie taxi driver?

it has helped me with my patience some too. Plus, I'm a really good, safe driver. I definitely learned that in the heat of bottle on NCY city streets! I think I'm pretty much the same when I'm not working. When I stop working I am immediately immersed in other activities and a feeling of uncertainty returns right before I hit the road again.....like I can't see myself having a successful shift, lol. And I always get that feeling. It lasts about 2 hours until my experience takes over, I drive just as good as I always do and the shift works itself out. I needn't have worried at all. Rinse, lather repeat!!
