Just got an idea. So looking at driaver app requests today and all of them accept one, require Rideshare. The location you need to go to, to get the Rideshare is at Brooklyn Park Penske.

So why not stage around there 30 mins before they are supposed to be there decline rides until they request and you see it's right there.

Today you'd need to ride-share to Sartell, MN.

If you took that ride the pax is paying $75. Youd make approx $40-$50 and could ask for $20 cash for return deadhead.

Youd be making more than the hiker driving the truck back.

Whacha think?
Why would they pay you deadhead?

Draiver actually schedules the Uber. When I did my trip I requested the ride on the Draiver app and then they requested the Uber. I got a text saying who my Uber driver was and a phone number to call to contact the Uber. When the driver pulled up he had my first name, but it wasn’t a request from my personal Uber account. At end of trip it was billed directly to Draiver. I have no idea if they tip...I’m guessing not. My trip was from Eagan to Brooklyn Park so not out of the metro area and no need for a deadhead fee. I don’t know what would have happened if I told the Uber driver to keep the trip running and drive back home, but I’m guessing Draiver would have disputed the trip.

As far as trying to time an Uber pickup at one of the Penske locations knowing that there would be a longish trip, the thought crossed my mind, but it would be difficult to know exactly when the rider would be there since there are just target trip start times. The actual time the person is requesting the ride could be +/- 30 minutes easily. And there’s no guarantee you’d be the one to get their ping. Seems like a relatively big gamble. It might work out but also a big chance of wasting time rejecting other pings for an hour only to not even get the trip.

Based on this thread (thanks!) I signed up for Draiver. I have not seen a single trip request in the 3 days since I signed up. Maybe my market is dead? Others scoop up requests? Or maybe they are using my small town address instead of Madison as my "location"...even when I'm at work near Madison?

Since my car got jacked by Valvoline... And it's gonna be in the shop a couple days... I booked two Draiver trips for Thursday. And I'm doing u-eats from my rental to catch money. The draiver trips are Mankato and st cloud. Will pickup $90 total so that's better than nothing when the truck is down. Good to have this other option. Will report how's it goes.

Dont you have Amazon flex? Pay is much better. For example, last night I did a 3 hour block from eagan to Stillwater that only had 10 stops which took under 2 hours and paid $105. Its definitely better than draiverdo

Drove my two shifts today... piece of cake. 16 foot box truck. Loud! Not very good suspension. Uber back from Mankato with the second driver after trucks were dropped. Then got a new truck and a 2nd driver and drove to ST Cloud. Dropped off truck, got another one, drove it back. Super simple if you don't mind driving box moving trucks. Got $90. First trip took 2.5 hours and second trip took 3.5 to Minneapolis during rush hour. Then I did a few Uber eats from my rental car ?

What were the other drivers you met like? The one trip I did was me solo. Was just wondering what sort of people the Draiver gig attracts? I guess a sample of 2 isn't enough to make a generalization, but I'm wondering if it's people that don't even own their own cars so can't do something like Uber? Or some retiree who just wants to drive trucks around? Etc??

Most are older grisled truck drivers. Had a young guy today no more than 25 on one trip. It' actually been fun doing it while my car is getting fixed. Did 3 rounds today and got one for Saturday already. It's nice driving trucks by yourself. Otherwise, when you put 2 other people in your truck, it becomes an uber ride, where they all wanna talk.... or not :)

Today I worked with a dude who used to drive for UBER but got deactivated, I now know why... guy was driving scared the whole time. Could not figure out his phone or how to use the Draiver app. Did not comprehend his GPS nav directions, keeps pushing the gas, then letting off constantly so the car was pulsing. We get to Home Depot to drop off a truck, he goes out behind the truck in the PARKING LOT and takes a piss! There are employees for Home depot walking around the parking lot getting it ready for the day... OMG... missed turns, said he's been doing Draiver for over a year now.... wow, I hope I don't get paired up with him again. You see all types whether doing uber or draiver :)

That sounds like what I kind of expected. Lol. Think I would mostly stick to single driver trips. Have you had to wait for someone to show up? I also feared I'd arrive for the job on time and the others would roll in anytime or not at all.

Yesterday Penske messed up a trip... Wrong location for delivery. Two drivers... Local. Ended to instead needing to go to Mankato. 2nd driver bailed was pissed. I got left without a 2nd person and was not able to do the trip either after waiting. So I missed it and the income. Luckily I had a single trip for later i took that was saved so I did that instead and was happy for the money. Gotta watch out to which route your GPS takes you. The other day it wanted me to go st Anthony prkwy. There's a 10"7' bridge there. My truck was 12"3! Crunch would have happened but I was looking out for more Bridges and height warnings so I avoided it. Heard one lady crunched a Bridge and one dude towed the chase car with its parking break on. Did $4k damage.
