Translation: "We in the yachting industry, an upperclass bastion stronghold of old money, are simply too darn cheap to pay a full cab fare...we enjoy exploiting desperate labor forces to make us feel good and help our old money stay put".
zman I am based out of North Miami-Dade, however I often end up in Broward, where I have had yacht "crews" who choose to use Uber XL for thier night-outs in Ft. Lauderdale. Most of the crews are foreigners such as South Africans, Australians, and Western Europeans. These are not the yacht owners or their captains TwoFiddyMile, just the staff, i.e. first mates, boatswain mates, cooks and servers. They are as anxious as sailors on shore leave and even willing to tip. Most go to lounges and bars on Lauderdale beach But occasionally they want to come to Miami and South Beach! I really miss them as customers......
