So, I won't put out the rider's nickname, but I'll go as far as to say it was a pickup in an affluent suburb near Waterbury (but on the far side away from Waterbury), and it was a long driveway off a steep road with two black mailboxes leading back a where it split leading to two houses- that should be enough to recognize it if you get the ping someday.

It was about 7PM and as he walked towards the car I saw he wasn't too steady on his feet. I told him there was a strict "no open bottle" policy in my car and he had to finish or leave his half bottle of beer. He didn't like it, but threw the bottle on the lawn after taking a slug. If he didn't have the door open I would have left then.

He got in and as we left the house he told me had a taser and pulled a box out of his back pack (of course he sat down in the front seat). He offered to give it to me if I let him open a beer he had in his backpack. I politely said no and was really glad the ride was only 7 miles. I am 6'2" and a retired cop, but this guy was as big as me and I can't say I was comfortable with him in the car. We started out and he said it was going to be a two way ride- he needed to pick something up and come back. I decided there was no way this was going to be a two way ride.

As we drove he asked if I liked to drink and take pills while I drove Uber. I told him no, and he reached into his backpack, took out a prescription pill bottle, and dry swallowed two. I have no idea what they were, but I suspect they weren't for blood pressure. He complained that every other Uber driver let him drink, and about half way to his destination he asked if I let him out, and he called another Uber, if it would be me. I assured him I would go off line so it wasn't me.

He asked me to drop him off at a nature preserve. I did. I am sorry if someone reading this post picked him up. I wish there was a way I could have warned everyone.

P.S. When reported to Uber as a potentially dangerous passenger, after all he represented he had a taser but didn't open the box, Uber's resolution was to assure me that in the future when he requests a ride I won't get it. I guess you're all on your own.
