Which do you avoid at all cost?

Colfax at 225 during rush hour. You'll get trapped for a good 45mins. Time to think of your mistake.

Santa Fe, Alameda I25 area is always a nightmare

Now 6th going west off i25 is always backed up. Denver does a horrid job of any road work, I expect that to carry over to the big i70 project

I am terrified of this thought...

Anyone remember "T-Rex"? That took a decade from my memory...

I had to look that one up on the google...

Well whichever Moron decided the new on ramp from Santa Fe to I-25 was going to help with traffic needs to be shot along with the idiot that thought going from 4 lanes to 2 on 225 at the Dam hitting I-25

Yes I lived on green Mt and had the commute to DTC and drove through the entire t-rex construction from beginning to end. Was thrilled when it finally finished. It seems it takes forever for any kind of road construction to finish. :(

Yeah I don't get why the onramp from santa fe doesn't have continuous second lane . Why does it drop to 1 there is plenty of room to have a continuous lane all the way to the Stupid Alameda on ramp

Also who thought that the population of Denver were smart enough to understand an off ramp in the center of a freeway ?? I25 South to 6th west with the federal exit in the middle of 6th

I first moved to Denver I lived right off Bellview and I25 during that whole fiasco , I got out of that area as fast as I could actually broke a lease to leave. I lived 3 blocks west of I25 on Bellview and just to get to my apartment from i25 could sometimes take half an hour .
Interesting, didn't read the whole article but they were 3.2% under budget and 22 months early by completion.

I guess you are (relatively) new to the area, welcome - along with everyone else that seems to be new to the area, hah!

Yah I think that had to be the worst road improvement project since I moved here in 96, but had to be done for sure. Now 470 near HR and the I70 one coming up may be just as bad but am hoping and praying it won't be! Are the plans still to make 70 near Brighton Blvd an underground tunnel with a park above to join commerce city back to Denver again. I read that 70 divided denver/commerce city up so much that it hurt commerce city and this is projected to help bring it back?

I think that's still the plan .. Although I liked the plan of turning i70 into a boulevard and basically creating a super highway north that was 16 lanes

When I was reading about the i70 project I read that the i70 and brighton area is the most polluted zip code in the country

Ahhhh that sounds like an amazing mover of traffic! I like that idea even better, although the tunnel/park plan would look better. But I'm all for less congestion and faster arrival times!

I moved here three years ago after living in Atlanta most of my life, but I remember the I-25+Light Rial project well as my best friend whom I visited regularly lived on S. Ogden in the Wash Park 'hood during that time (I just didn't know the official project name).

I can understand how folks who have lived in the Denver area for a long time are distressed by the increase in traffic that has resulted from the tremendous growth, but for those of us who have moved here from much bigger cities, the traffic here doesn't even begin to compare to areas like LA, Chicago, Boston, DC, Houston or Atlanta.

I honestly think the traffic here is worse then Chicago and only because most the time there is no reason for there to be traffic . At least in bigger cities there is some Rhyme and Reason behind traffic , Colorado is just full of terrible drivers (Which I think steams from the fact that almost noone is from Colorado and there is a big difference between east coast driving style and west coast driving styles , mix a lot of different driving styles in a city that doesn't have the proper infrastructure to handle the population growth and it's a perfect storm)

It was 3 lanes before light-rail came along, added the train didn't work on the bridge, if i remember correctly.
Not fond of i70 & Pecos
Really? what don't u like about it ?

I think if they did the round abouts in more areas and trained people how to use them properly it would reduce a lot of issues
Mainly trying to exit w bound with 2 lanes of on-coming traffic.
I hate the intersection of Broadway and 20th heading up Lincoln and making that left turn then right to get onto Broadway, those potholes there stink.

I have a feeling it's all relative to where you live and what you drive most. When I used to work in Westminster, 120th and Huron was the absolute worst, especially right at rush hour. You'd get people who would pull into the intersection while it was green, it'd turn red but they had no way to go, so the next cycle would go and those people couldn't get through so at the last minute, once the car actually moved, they'd all floor it, and a few of them would get stuck in the intersection as well, and the cycle just went on and on. All it would take is for people to obey the laws and unwritten rules (don't pull into the intersection unless you are sure you'll make it through) but every, damn, day... for like 8 years... same crap.
I'm sure there are plenty of intersections just like it...
