Yes appears so, minimum fare is $6 in the gong compared to $8 in Sydney.....
Interesting to know what the km rate and waiting time is...

I re-call back when I signed up for Uber as a pax in 2014 I was in the US (New york) it didn't have a limit and there were hundreds on the screen at once LOL needless to say I never waited for longer than 2 mins to get a ride

Just use the pax app to try and request a ride, then you'll see the rates. $1.10/Km and $0.30/min.
Also with no destination, I won't be rushing down there any time soon! Rates are same as Central Coast and Newcastle. Not surprised they went with lower rates, although I was hoping they might stick with Sydney rates.

Yup same as Byron. But probably will be like Newcastle and surge a whole lot less than here because of the base population and the amount of people who can drive.
Whereas greater Byron has 7000 residents, and approx. 60,000 tourists at peak times. That's why most of the drivers here come from GC/Tweed and Ballina. But $6 fares at 25% are shite ($4.50) and that's mainly what you get.
