In some cases, the rider can later change a rating that he or she has already submitted about the driver.
As a result, the following scenario is possible:
1. Driver gives a low rating for Rider.
2. Rider gives a high rating for Driver
3. Rider discovers the low rating he or she received from Driver by the timing of the change to the Rider’s average rating.
4. Rider becomes angry and engages in ‘revenge rating’ to change their already-submitted rating for the driver to “1-star” by following method: In rider’s app menu, “Your Trips” / “I had a different issue” / “How do I change the rating for a driver?” / then, select a different rating value / “next” / “done.” (The rating is then updated in real time.)
Uber claims that “no one” can change Ride ratings after they have been submitted, based upon the evidence I have seen in action, it appears that, Uber’s statement is not true.
Approximately one year ago, I mentioned my findings (described above) to Uber on multiple occasions. However, each of the Uber reps I communicated with acted like they did not understand this problem, and chose to ignore it.
As a result, it appears that this system glitch continues to exist as part of the Uber app today.
